The 40th anniversary of Earth Day is around the corner on April 23, 2010. Natasha Sunshine, owner of Byu-ti salon in Santa Monica, CA got an early start and threw a soiree on April 11, 2010 to benefit Global Green, USA.

You might recognize Global Green. It's the charity that was supported by many celebrities at their 7th Annual Pre-Oscar party, including James Cameron, Jessica Alba, and Serena Williams.

Sunday's event had a vegan and organic theme. Pollen Catering created a special earth day menu for the guests. Pollen's mission is to provide fine vegan dining that excites their customer's palette and promotes a healthy nutritional balance. Guests dined on their vegetable tempeh and chorizo frittata along with a hazelnut, porcini, and lentil spread and sunflower hummus. A variety of vegan dark chocolate truffles provided by Nicobella were on display and most of the guests were dressed in green for the occasion.

Congratulations to Byu-ti salon and Your Daily Thread for organizing this event and creating awareness in the Los Angeles community just in time for Earth Day.
