"The toga party chant of "How's Your House" turns the Hurricane Katrina tragedy into a wonderfully perverse taunt delivered with a sarcasm and wit that is much dryer than any bus load of blankets sent in by the good folks at F.E.M.A.

Two years post-8/29, rock stars are still working to get their displaced New Orleans musician friends help. Ian Hunter of Mott the Hoople ("All the Young Dudes" and "Cleveland Rocks") has written the ultimate anthem and is donating the download on NOMRF.org. Ian is the author of "Diary of a Rock 'N' Roll Star," (written on Mott's 1972 US tour) which was subsequently acclaimed by Q Magazine as "the greatest music book ever written." If you'd like him to write something to you, log in here to win Ian's signed lyric sheet to this song accompanied by an amazing video by Grewvia for the New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund.

We also have downloads from Dr. John to a previously unreleased Kaiser Chiefs song, "Out of My Depth" on the platform. Little Steven's Underground Garage is hosting the contest link, too, so the rockers are out in force. Mike Mills of REM has been promoting the Fund with Little Steven all summer and will hopefully join us down in the heat at the Anti-Versary. Ian and Mike (I like to pretend that we're on a first name basis) are signing a Headstrong Amp to auction at the Katrina Anniversary - 100% of the proceeds will benefit the grass roots Fund, still getting grants out there to musicians far from home.

The song and video are so good and so depressing that you can't look away. Which is the point. My hope is that you set aside an hour, a cocktail, some tissues and listen to the songs back-to-back while thinking about the fact that half of the artists on the compilation are still in the process of rebuilding their lives. The other half are international artists who care enough to rock.
