Something is off. Maybe she's a serial killer or something because she's unsettling even as she's supposed to be "normal."

Maggie Pierce is having a no good, horrible, very bad day. She's lonely and homesick. She can't remember Wilson's name, but manages to blabber mouth about a board position and get him fired from private practice. She slow codes a patient (per patients request) and Meredith catches her. It doesn't matter that Meredith would have done the same thing, because she would've, we've all watched her. Meredith does not like her.

She almost gets Bailey on her side because she defends her genome mapping project, but insults Avery, steps on toes. It doesn't matter that in the end she gives Yang's last patients some peace and wins Owen's respect, a little. She's in trouble. And then her parents send her a singing crustacean.

There's something phony about Maggie Pierce and I don't know if it's the acting or the script. Everything she says or does or says she likes to do sounds too forced or something.

That said, I'm glad she tells Meredith, Grey's Anatomy drama style in the rain. All the best conversations happen outside the hospital at night, right?

I also like how they're weaving her into the crowd. Arizona digs her, as does Bailey. The interns respect and are a little scared of her. It was a nice trick to have her bully Jo just as she was feeling, not bullied, but out of sync. Derek is nice to her even as Meredith seethes at her. Her only friend is Amelia, another outcast.

And yet. Something is off. Maybe she's a serial killer or something because she's unsettling even as she's supposed to be "normal."

What's going on? Let me know @karenfratti.
