Getting in the Flow to Attract BIG

Everyone, at some point in their life, has experienced "the flow" -- even if it was for a few moments. The misconception is that it was just a lucky moment.

One of the biggest challenges I work with my clients on consistently is "getting in and staying in the flow." When they do -- they attract BIG.

What does "getting in the flow" mean?

To me, this means that life becomes effortless.

Wow, it's like I can hear the gears grinding to a halt. What? Life and effortless in the same sentence? Nonsense!

No, really! Life can be effortless!

Now, right now, I want you to pay attention to the chatter going on in your mind. If you're arguing with me in your mind -- I can pretty much guarantee that whatever belief is behind that argument is the very belief that blocks you from having a life that IS effortless. Stop and nail down that argument and then ask yourself "why do I believe this?"

My next guarantee is that whatever you come back with will be completely logical. Completely. It can range from the fact that your personal experience has been one of struggle and very hard work without always getting the results that you want, or seeing the reality in the media that millions of people are not living an effortless life. Depending on your upbringing you may have also learned that struggling in life is normal and even virtuous.

However, what I do know is that everyone, at some point in their life, has experienced "the flow" -- even if it was for a few moments. The misconception is that it was a lucky moment, the Fates were on your side and it's not reasonable to think that life can be lived this way. In fact, you think that it would be crazy to think otherwise. Nyyyeh (buzzer sound) -- WRONG!

I'm here to tell you that you need to change your mind. (Oh my, how bold was that!?)

Okay, I'll re-frame that -- if you want things to be different (and I mean easier) where you get to live a life that you absolutely love -- you'll need to change your mind.

It is possible to live a life that is easier than you've been living but you do have to shift what you believe. Let's go back to your reaction to my statement about life being effortless. I asked you to ask why you believe this. When your mind comes up with an answer, you want to do a Byron Katie on yourself and ask if this is really true. If it is true, I want you to next ask yourself it it's true all the time and true for everyone. This is usually where the belief structure starts to break down. It is likely your belief is not true all the time and certainly not true for everyone. So, if it isn't true all the time and not true for everyone that means it has the potential to also not be true for you. Whew! That was a mouthful!

The key message is that your belief may not hold up all the time and that's all we need. Just a glimmer of hope to the other side of the way life can exist. C'mon, we all know people who live charmed lives. They're the type where everything they touch seems to turn to gold (and these days, with gold prices, well, you know ... it's pretty good!) -- they drive down the street and hit all the green lights. Opportunities seem to fall from the sky and, darn it, they're always smiling (very annoying to many). It's easy to think that they were just born lucky but the truth is that whatever they can do -- you can also achieve. (Notice if you're finding yourself arguing with me again in your mind -- go through the process again to ask why you believe this)

Start identifying people who are successful at living in the flow and then start to understand that they are no more special than you are -- that's when you can start to shift your belief.

Let's recap -- to start living in the flow -- your first steps are to:

  1. Start paying attention to what limitations you're arguing for
  2. Ask yourself why you believe this limitation is true
  3. Start looking for evidence that it's not true for everyone
  4. Change your mind by changing your belief
  5. You can do this, you just have to choose to do it.
