I started taking photos in 2008 as a random hobby and today I can't imagine my life without it. As my interest in photography has grown, so has my interest in self portraits. I tend to not like most photos of myself so initially I didn't take many because I preferred to save the money rather than chance it using self-timer on film. I have always been particularly interested in self portraits though, both those of other artists as well as the concept behind one. I have a degree in psychology and naturally try to understand people, and self portraits are innately personal because of what they say about the photographer. The photos in this set are presented in chronological order with only a few from the first two years when I began. This past year has been the most challenging of my life and as I have begun to focus more on myself, I have turned the camera around to do the same.
