Caught in the Act: Nina Streich (VIDEO)

During a recent visit to Florida for "Snap! Orlando," a dynamic photographic festival organized by Patrick Kahn, I ran into an old friend, Nina Streich, founder and executive director of the Global Peace Film Festival, which will take place in Orlando and Winter Park from September 20 - 25, 2011. Nina describes the festival as a "celebratory event" to honor those who promote global and community awareness of peace and environmental sustainability through film. Her magical event unites filmmakers and film-goers who are inspired to take action in their daily lives to leave the world a more peaceful place.

What you can do:

• Support media-makers whose work takes a stand to expose injustices and promote the work of activists around the world.


• "Like" Global Peace Film Festival on Facebook or follow peacefilmfest on Twitter.


• Volunteer your time and share your passion with others.


• When you see a social issue film on TV or in the theater, make sure to speak up about it! Email the TV station or the distributor to thank them for showing it and tell your friends to see it.
