Keith Wallis is an English poet. An engineering designer by trade, he brings a eye for detail as well as faith into his poetry. He is currently 'poet in residence' at Ruby e-zine and a moderator at ChristianWriters.com. His blog of ekphrastic poetry is here, where you'll also find links to his books and his other blogs. Keith married Val in 1970 and has two sons and three grandsons. Though not an 'academic' (school was a disaster), Keith was always fond of writing. He began submitting work for publication in the 1980s after being encouraged by a community writer in residence.

From the Deep

From the deep and ancient depths
watery kings survey their realm -
in swift or loitered passes.
Curiosity draws them to the curious;
looking out or looking in
we share inquiry
though our worlds are different.

Beyond the pane
gossamer parachutists
dance in briny skies.
Light and airy
in faerie ballet
they pulse and wave.
From pastel parasol
they trail their sting -
for beauty
has its price.
