...Or, in other words, please consider adopting a rabbit. I'm going to assume that anyone who bothers to read my posts is well aware of the crisis in dog and cat overpopulation, but perhaps not so much about the overabundance of unwanted pet rabbits also in need of homes.

Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA, like so many local sheltering organizations, has made huge strides over the years in addressing the dog and cat crisis through the combination of subsidized spay/neuter programs plus education/advocacy campaign plus adoption programs. Our success in terms of rabbits, while still significant, has a long way to go.

Rabbits make wonderful companions. Please consider adopting a spayed or neutered pet rabbit from your local shelter. Interested? If Burlingame is within driving distance, Saturday September 7th could be the perfect day to take that next step with PHS/SPCA's special Rabbit Adoption Event (at our Center for Compassion).

Adoption fees on our already altered rabbits are only $20 for this special, onetime event, along with discounts on enclosures and care kits. We'll have rabbit people there to answer questions about care, litter box training, diets and to demonstrate rabbit harnesses, clicker training, grooming, nail trimming and massage (that's you massaging the rabbits, not the other way around).

We'll have a wide variety of rabbits in need of new homes, including the very cool larger breeds. If you already share your home hutch with a hopping friend, bring them along -- our expert matchmakers can help you find a partner!
