It's that time of year when we celebrate friends and family. As I looked around my Thanksgiving table last week, I was glad to have the most important people in my life giving thanks beside me. With the pace of life today and all that is happening in the world it is so easy to lose sight of what really matters or become wrapped up in the things that divide us. That is why I started SixDegrees.org a few years ago -- to show how connected we all truly are and challenge people to champion causes that make a difference in this small world.
You've probably heard of the Six Degrees concept. Any one person (including me, Kevin Bacon) is connected to any other person through six or fewer relationships, because it's a small world. My question here is, why do we need a reminder? Some don't. There are fabulous people all over the world working for others 24/7. It is their passion. However the greater majority only feel moved to be charitable during the holiday season when someone reminds them. They may be compassionate people but their generosity overflows when reminded. We all need to turn compassion into passion. This way we are always of the consciousness to be generous, loving and giving. With the state of the world and the economy of the US in the tank the only way we will survive as humanity is to help each other. We may have open minds & hearts but unless we open the door & windows of our being to help those less fortunate, the six degrees of separation will be 6 to the tenth power.
