As I wrote in last week's post regarding the Other side of veterans with PTS, we will continue to showcase a veteran who is looking for work, and a military friendly employer who recognizes and values the skills and talents veterans and military spouses bring to the workforce.
I don't know of any employer who wouldn't welcome the addition of more veterans to their workforce, however many we speak with have a tough time sourcing veteran talent, or translating what a veteran did in the military to what they would be required to do with their company. The good news is, there are several new programs in the private and public sector that are helping to bring veterans and military friendly employers together. Here are just a few examples for your review and consideration..
Milicruit
Milicruit is the career fair that never closes, and Milicruit brings the career fair to the veteran and employer through its fully interactive virtual recruitment center. Unlike a traditional career fair that requires the job seeker to travel to and from a physical venue, the Milicruit events are conducted online, and from anywhere with an internet connection. Employers benefit from being able to recruit nationwide in one day, and without the cost, burden, or environmental impact typically associated with attending traditional career fairs. Milicruit hosts national virtual career fairs for veterans each month. Their next career fair is scheduled for May 23rd

We asked Dan to provide a little information on himself, and why he feels employers should give him an opportunity to join their team, and here is Dan's response;
"My time in the Marine Corps was a great learning experience, especially my deployment to Ar Ramadi Iraq. I ended up getting out of the Marine Corps in 2007, and experienced several issues transitioning into civilian life including the loss of my brother who was also a Marine. Instead of giving up I dug in and have never looked back. Since then I have been asked to testify in front of the United States Senate and then asked again to testify in front of the United States Congress. I work with veterans that are struggling to transition back into civilian life and I volunteer a lot of my time as an advocate for veterans. I am currently working for the Department of Defense as a Transition Assistance Advisor. I am currently working down at Camp Shelby in Mississippi helping with the largest demobilization of troops since WWII. The job I currently hold is temporary as I am filling in for someone that is currently deployed and am looking forward to working in another capacity in which I can use my hard work ethic, dedication and passion. "
Dan is interested in sales, marketing, administrative, and any position that would help fellow veterans in their transition to civilian life after serving.
