Ever wondered what it's like inside the hallowed halls of the National Geographic Society's headquarters? Wonder no more: I've started a new video series during which I conduct a surprise inspection on some of the world's favorite travel and lifestyle brands who are active or dabbling in social media.
After agreeing to be on my list, I gave National Geographic Traveler magazine's chief researcher, Marilyn Terrell, notice that I was headed in to see what a day in her office life was like.
I ended up learning quite a lot of interesting and unexpected facts. Watch to find out how Alexander Graham Bell was instrumental in the magazine's now trademark photo spreads, a look into their archives, a peek at the office of Traveler's editor, and a few whimsical quirks around the office.
Many thanks to the wonderful folks around the office who let me ambush them for an afternoon.
If you have a suggestion of a company you've always wanted to see inside for an upcoming "Surprise Inspection by @kimmance", leave it in comments and you may see it in a future episode.
