Q: Leading a busy lifestyle packed with travel what is your favorite breathing technique to relax and why?

A: To be completely honest, it's not even fancy. One of the quickest, most soothing things I can do is take an incredibly deep inhale and exhale. It's the simplicity of being conscious and connected to your breath that is important and relaxing. There's this build up tension that happens when you get stressed and a deep breath is a way to connect back to yourself. And when I take that big exhale, it's a symbolic way of releasing anything that's holding me down.

Q: What are your top 3 favorite things that keep you balanced?

A: I'm a huge fan of sleep. I think in this day and age, when the world is so fixed and focused on instant gratification, it's important to remember the power of rest and being able to rest and recharge. Second, I'm on week four of my book tour, and I've been completely out of my routine, so I took the last few days to do a mini cleanse to reboot my system, to allow my body to feel connected again. Of course, then, third, since I spent the last two days working incredible hard, I treated myself to a lovely plate of pasta. Indulgences are important. (And pasta is my absolute favorite food.)

Q: What is your biggest challenge to date and how did you overcome it?

A: My biggest challenge has been realizing that every day is a new opportunity to create a new happy ending and that I'm actually the only one in control of that ending. It's a reminder that regardless of the situation you're in, you're never stuck, unless you give up. And even though that feeling of being tied down can be all consuming, if you take a moment to step back and focus on what you truly want for your life, there's always space -- if you give yourself permission to reinvent yourself.
