Hacking the Saudis

Posted: 07/16/11 05:14 PM ET

Breathlessly, six members of Congress have requested that the FBI investigate the "outrageous" allegations that News Corp might have hacked into the cell phones of 9/11 victims and their families. Lickety split, the Justice Department has done so.

First off, does it surprise me that a corporation like News Corp. might try to hack into the information of private citizens for their own financial gain? Nope.

Much like it wouldn't surprise me if my own government hacked into the private information of its citizens for political gain or... er, I mean, "reasons of national security." Just ask Dick Cheney and Karl Rove about that.

Of course, any such "accidental netting" on their part would be immediately explained away under the protections of FISA and the Patriot Act, because clearly it would have been necessary "in the ongoing fight against terrorism."

Too bad, Congress doesn't want to investigate those types of indiscretions. Sigh.

But truly, I am awestruck when people like Congressman Peter King, Chairman of the House Committee for Homeland Security is so quickly moved to demand an investigation into such vague, seemingly hollow allegations as someone hacking into the cell phones of people like me.

Is this the same Congressman King who when faced with actual hard, incontrovertible facts and figures regarding the vulnerabilities posed by dangerous chemical and water plants across the country remains disinterested? And, I might add firmly on the side of big business. An issue, I might also add, that places a million+ Americans in the bull's eye everyday. Where's the outrage there? Or the demand for immediate investigation and action when it comes to that, Congressman King?

Indeed, as someone who has tried to pique the interest of both Congress and the Justice Department to investigate various issues over the course of the past 10 years to no avail, I wonder: what exactly does it take to get Congress and the Department of Justice interested in an issue.

Because with regard to Murdoch-gate and 9/11 victims, ironically, it would seem the bar is pretty low.

According to the Washington Post, "the Mirror's story remains unsubstantiated and uncorroborated, and it has been reported exclusively by a British tabloid famous for sensational journalism."

Moreover, the Post reports that "the Mirror names no specific sources in its reporting, and it relies on a single anonymous second-hand source for its account."

Yet apparently, the US Department of Justice and FBI feel the need to delve into these allegations.

Do they really have that kind of spare time? Especially in light of recent news reports that Bin Laden was planning another large-scale attack on the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

More to the point, if all it takes are allegations made in the media to spark a fire in the "seat" of Congress, then I'd like to re-direct their attention along with Director of the FBI, Robert Mueller, Attorney General Eric Holder, and President Obama to this month's Vanity Fair article written by Anthony Summers and Robbyn Swan, "The Kingdom and the Towers."

The article details strong, credible allegations directly connecting Saudi financing to the 9/11 attacks. In fact, there are too many alarming, damning bits of information to adequately highlight here. You'll have to read the article for yourself.

When done reading, I hope that you, too, will question why 10 years later neither Congress nor our Justice Department is interested or willing to investigate the truth about Saudi complicity in the 9/11 attacks.

After all, some might say that Congress' attempt to go up against a ruthless bastard like Murdoch makes taking on the Saudis look like a proverbial walk in the park. But of course, that's what we'd all be doing -- walking -- if DOJ and Congress ever did seriously confront the Saudis, since we'd end up being a little short on oil.

Thank you Kristen. Merely the tip of the iceberg I'd imagine. And from the article in Vanity Fair it seems everyone is lying or backpedaling. Or maybe lying or maybe only lying here but not there.....

Always enjoy Kirsten's posts. A new book out by Anthony Summers& Robyn Swan, goes over some interesting information about how the Saudis were involved, not just Al Qaeda. "The Eleventh Day": The Full Story of 9/11 and, Osama Bin Laden. The Author was interviewed on Charlie Rose, Wednesday night.

Saudi's will never be investigated because they have a huge stake in Fox News.

Just another reason to turn off Fox.

...with his long experience in the field as a member and chair not only of the Joint Inquiry but also of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, has continued to voice his anger over the censorship... President Bush ... “engaged in a cover-up...to protect not only the agencies that failed but also America’s relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia... He has done so by misclassifying information on national security data. While the information may be embarrassing or politically damaging, its revelation would not damage national security.” Richard Shelby concluded independently that virtually all the censored pages were “being kept secret for reasons other than national security.”

“It was,” Graham wrote, “as if the president’s loyalty lay more with Saudi Arabia than with America’s safety.” In Graham’s view, Bush’s role in suppressing important information about 9/11, along with other transgressions, should have led to his impeachment and removal from office.

Within weeks of his inauguration ... Barack Obama, made a point of receiving relatives of those bereaved on 9/11. The widow...has said that she brought the new president’s attention to the infamous censored section of the Joint Inquiry report. Obama told her...that he was willing to get the suppressed material released. Two years later, the chapter remains classified

The Saudis or at least some elements of the Saudis were likely involved, not just an Al Qaeda operation.

The author is right. The muslim terrorism can largely be traced to the type of Islam that the Saudi's spread. Both Bush and Obama have been far too close to that corrupt regime.

Saudi has no freedom of religion, press or speech. Not a single church is allowed in the country even though they have one million foreign workers, mostly Christian from the Phillipines. They are not even allowed to bring a bible into the country. Yet, Saudi is behind the push to build the Victory Mosque near 9/11 and they are also behind the massive money for their "Arab Chairs" at many univ.
They help fund CAIR who sues us nearly daily for perceived slights and filed an immediate lawsuit against Okla. for passing the law which forbade Sharia Law/.

Lastly, Saudi denigrates women. Not only aren't they allowed to even drive or be in public without a related male with them, they are subjected to stonings, lashings, female mutilations, honor killings and much more. Saudi men are allowed 4 wives and a mistress. Where are our feminists complaining about this?

Our goverment did not go after the Saudis because of the close relationship between the Bush family and the Saudi Royal family. Everyone knows that of 13 hijackers 11 were Saudis. This was seldom if ever mentioned. Never on Fox news.Perhaps in stead of spying on American voters the FBI & etc should start checking on people outside of it's own citizens. Ya think!!!!

You need a fact check Patin. The Saudis were 15/19 hijackers, not 11 of 13. And this is prominently mentioned on Fox when 9/11 is the topic.

And why didn't Obama?
01:37 PM on 07/18/2011
Since the end of WWII, the GOP has been able to label the Democratic Party as weak on national security issues, based on such spurious claims as "the Democrats lost China." As a result, few Democratic presidents have had the guts to contradict the basic themes of our national security state (for example, JFK was scared to death about being called weak regarding Vietnam). Obama, who treats every contentious issue as something to be mediated, has been sucked into the swamp of believing that almost any questioning of Bush Administration national security decision making (such as even investigating torture allegations) would doom him and the Democratic Party.

the reason the sauds were not/are not investigated for 9/11 is because they were not connected to it. the best evidence is they had/have nothing to gain for aiding such an operation. pnac and the associated people and .govs, however, got the pearl harbor event they openly admitted they needed to implement their vision in process now as we speak as a direct result of 9/11.

all they have to do to achieve that end is limit production. besides, they don't want the price to go too high because it encourages alt fuel development. justifying 9/11 as a means to raise oil prices is absurd.

Can we please kill this PNAC story once & for all?
If you read the entire quote - instead of one sentence from a lengthy report - it is clear that they were talking about updating the military's computer systems, not changing the face of government.
This has been debunked numerous times, but countless people seem to believe that a secret cabal would orchestrate a massive, international conspiracy from the shadows, only to publicly announce it in advance for the world to see.

sorry jack. i have read the entire report. it has nothing to do with military computer systems. henry kissinger is on record, reported in many reliable places, that a pearl harbor event would expedite the plans. the pnac report is a derivative of the clean break policy authored in part by netanyahu which called for the destabilization of key mid east countries as a way of using controlled chaos as a means to diminish their political significance.

Oh, of course. The Sauds.

Out of curiosity, is "Lucky" Larry Silverstein a Saud?

What about
Rabbi Dov Zakheim
Michael Chertoff?
Richard Perle?
Paul Wolfowitz?
Douglas Feith?
Eliot Abrams
Marc Grossman
Ari Fleischer?

Is ICTS International a Saudi company? Because they were covering security at the airports.
Did the Saudis get text messages from Odigo warning them to get out of the towers?
Was it some 140-odd Saudi spies discreetly flown out on an El Al airplane to Israel while air traffic was grounded?
Was it Saudis who were apprehended with a van full of explosives that day?
Was it 5 "dancing Saudis" who were seen celebrating while filming the impact on the towers?

For that matter, what about you, Mrs. Breitweiser? Are you a bona fide 9/11 widow?

Whether they're Saudi or *otherwise*, I'd definitely support further investigation of the matter.

Hey, refute his facts, one by one. You can't-particularly about who was arrested by the cops around Ground Zero on 9/11- and it wasn't Saudis or Muslims driving those vans. So once again, refute the facts.

The fact that John O'Neill, a top FBI anti-terror agent, was blocked by Robert Mueller from investigating leads, and was the subject of a smear campaign, finally resigned and became the head of security at the World Trade Center, probably was motivated by sour grapes to say that "All terrorism roads lead to Saudi Arabia". Just another disgruntled ex-FBI expert.
