5 Foods That Can Make You More Attractive

Posted: 07/15/2011 8:19 am

They say that youth is often wasted on the young -- that we can't appreciate great skin and a fast metabolism until we get older and both start going in a direction we wish they hadn't. I have devoted my career to helping people live longer through good nutrition by focusing on inner health.

But in the wide world of nutritional benefits, it doesn't hurt to add some foods to enhance our beauty as well, right? In addition to the expensive skin creams, treatments and potions, food can make a huge difference on your complexion, hair and even nails! In this article, I'll share 5 foods that you should include in your "eating pretty" diet!

Papaya

You may already been spending lots of cash to put enough vitamin C on your body but what about putting it IN your body as well? In 2007, a study in American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that higher dietary intake of Vitamin C was associated with a decreased likelihood of a wrinkled appearance.

To get more Vitamin C in your daily menu, think beyond your morning glass of orange juice and go for some additional (yet excellent) sources of Vitamin C such as papaya, broccoli, brussel sprouts and bell peppers. In fact, you could throw all of that in a stir fry for a beautiful meal! Buy some fresh to throw in a salad or purchase frozen to make tropical smoothies!

Once again I read this list like Susan Lucci looking for her name on the daytime Emmy's. No Peanut M & M's, No Snickers Bars, No Scotch, No Kung Pao Chicken or Spice Drops. We have gotta find some new scientists and doctors for these studies. Who paid for this? Life cereal and Mikey? Eat healthier, Love and live Longer.
Sorry for 265lbs (down from 345), I like to keep it lite around here. lol everyday.

Brazil Nuts are my favorite, I've never tried swiss chard. I do eat a whole papaya every day though. I think it is also great to include Hair Skin Nails vitamins, they really help to make hair and skin glossy.

This was very superficial. The author forgot, by way of example only: salmon, avocados, and virgin olive oil. She could have also added: oranges, blueberries, and just plain water. Americans are so pathetically confused and conflicted about food, please don't give them another list of "magic foods". Just eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetable: meat, fish and poultry in moderation: and whole grains and beans. It really is that simple. Peter Klika, Kapaau, Hawaii ( no "magic foods" here)

I thought it was a good list. I don't eat several of the items so it was informative to me. Salmon, avocados, virgin olive oil, definitely water...all things I would think most Americans known because they've been pushed so hard. Swiss Chard? I wasn't familiar with that.

When I was first diagnosed with melanoma -- and for a few years after my surgery -- I craved broccoli, cauliflower, kale, collards and Brussels sprouts like candy. Cruciferous and green leafy veggies are like crack for cancer patients -- there's something in them that I just couldn't get enough of. I remember practically having an out-of-body experience once eating a bowl of soup made from shitaki mushrooms, nori, a little bit of organic miso and LOTS of greens. I felt like I was eating life itself.

What fun. Food can make you pretty, cure diseases, make you live longer, and so on, and so forth. Used to be, when there wasn't so much of it around, food was what kept you from dying of starvation.

It's just a fascinating commentary on human nature how we who live in the first culture that has conquered hunger now have such bizarre expectations of the stuff we eat. Sure, I'll pay ten bucks for a 99c lettuce if it says "organic", whoopee, I'll eat it and be the master of my destiny, and be sexy and healthy and never die!

There is a long history of using food as medicine that dates back probably as far as people do.

Even sick animals can be observed changing their diets to include certain herbs and plants.

Of course, but don't expect the willfully ignorant to understand.

We're supposed to eat hot dogs, white bread and chocolate milk -- and be glad to have it.

Meh.

Every morning I make either a juice or smoothie, and add in all the healthy stuff I can think of. Avocado, cucumber, blueberries, kale, beets, dandelion roots, apple, lemon juice etc, you name it. Ever since starting this, my skin has that 'glow', my hair is shinier, my digestion has improved and so has my mood.
