Seattle Repertory Theatre's latest offering Arthur Miller's A View From the Bridge is a moving production of a genuine classic. Staged on a yet another outstanding Seattle Rep set, the play provides the audience with a look into the lives of a past generation of American immigrants that is as relevant today as it was when Miller penned the play.

Here's how Seattle Rep describes A View From the Bridge:

A longshoreman by trade, Eddie Carbone is confident of his place in the working-class neighborhood he calls home. That life changes when he agrees to harbor his immigrant cousins. A love affair exposes a dark family secret, and suspicion, jealousy and betrayal soon follow in this passionate drama by one of America's greatest playwrights.

This is a show that deals with both the large issues of cultural change and the more intimate issues of extended family dynamics in a way that keeps the audience fully involved and interested from opening to the final standing ovation. And that opening is refreshingly unique in that the show begins before the audience is seated when a group of the male characters come onstage and being pitching pennies. They then invite a few men from the audience to enter their world and join them in the game.

All in all, A View From the Bridge is entertaining and thought provoking. It also provides theatergoers with an opportunity to see an Arthur Miller classic performed impeccably. A View From the Bridge continues at Seattle Rep through October 18.
