Well, looks like Minnesota is going to be a hopping place during next week's RNC convention. Check this out:
True Blue Minnesota will be parking a jumbotron outside the convention where they plan to show videos of Guantanamo detainees, scenes from the Iraq war, movies like "Body of War," and they will be playing the trailer and clips from WAR, INC. as well. They will also be doing a screening of WAR, INC. as part of their public policy forum.
You can check out more info on this big party over at True Blue Minnesota.
And remember, War Inc., is Johnny Cusack's film (see here and here) which all of you helped so vigorously promote. You can read more about the film on Johnny's blog, here.
All of you who are going, just remember, bring plenty of film and many cameras. Or do I have to remind you what a threat citizens organizing peacefully represents to the RNC? . The truth is the most dangerous of all weapons and the reaction of the war profiteers gathered to select themselves 4 more year of more war profits will likely be aggressive when their crimes are put sky high for all to see.

I doubt we have ever known the extent of what is bought and
sold in the polititcal process. If you count the exercises in emergency
response that all state Homeland Security divisions had this summer,
then we have been being redied for a police state for several months.
With Bush and Chaney still in office, just about anything can happen
before January. And there's also Gustov.
For the first time in my life, I would like to be at an repuglican convention. I heard they are considering posponing due to Gustav, they deserve a hurricane. Wouldn't it be so so appropriate if a hurricane disrupted their lives for a change.

Heavy merde.
It is always good to see you post here Larisa, though it would be nice to see more of your writing at Huffpost.
As for the war at the RNC, we should remember that pre-empitve war and strikes are now part of the new normal in America. So I guess it should be no surprise that a pre-emptive raid was carried out on one of the groups who will be protesting.

As for the recent Democratic convention. Two things by themselves are somewhat disturbing, but together seem infinitely worse.
1) The multi million dollar security blanket with riot gear for cops all week long, the free speech cages, cameras and high tech gear was all paid for by we the people so Democrats could exclude our voices from the convention of this party of the people.
2) The multi million dollar convention parties paid for by a who's who of finance, pharmaceuticals, telcom and military supply companies, which gave them access to the most senior Democratic party decision makers.
We the people were shut out of the political process by goons paid with our tax dollars, while multi millionaires wined and dined the party brass who couldn't get enough.
