When my son was born five months ago, I was overcome by emotions and overwhelmed by the job in front of me. Like the thousands of people who've come to SMITH Magazine and SMITH Teens who have now written nearly half a million Six-Word Memoirs, I too made sense of my (new) world six words at a time. It's all there, the arc of the first few months as a dad: "Was a pinky, now a pacifier"; "So much crying. The baby, too"; "My newborn: the benign dictator"; "You say gas, I say smile"; "Baby slept eight, dad is reborn"; "Lactating woman offered boob during flight" (that's a whole other story).

I hope you'll share your own Six Words on the Dad life--both about being a dad and your relationship with your own father (some of the best ones so far are indeed from daughters). Over on SMITH, we're giving away one signed copy of the new kid's book for parents, Go the F**k to Sleep, and five copies of the newest Six-Word Memoir book. Here are a few of our favorite Six-Word Memoirs on dads for inspiration. I hope you'll share yours on the Six-Word Memoir project.

Dad was wonderful, even if Republican.
