The top 10 reasons why Dr. Ron Paul is the only rational presidential choice for Americans, Democratic, Republican and Independent:
10. Dr. Paul works a real job, has run a small a business and served in the military. He has been a physician for 40 years, co-owned a coin store for 12 years and was a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. National Guard for five years. That was how our country was set up -- for public servants to work a real job that they returned to after their public service was done. He has real skills and is not a professional politician.
9. Dr. Paul has decades of experience running a business and in depth knowlegde of health care.
8. Dr. Paul understands money and is chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology.
7. Dr. Paul does the right thing referencing the U.S. Constitution and works for the country versus campaigning for his ego. He has been serving the public in politics for over 40 years.
6. Dr. Paul refuses to accept a federal pension for his public service, something other members get after a short period because they do not have real jobs. According to Dr. Paul, to receive a pension for public service would be "hypocritical and immoral."
5. Unlike most other candidates out there, Dr. Paul is not a good-looking, smooth-talking, snake charmer or charismatic zealot. He is a regular, plain-spoken person who says it the way it is.
4. Dr. Paul doesn't care if big groups like him (like unions and businesses). His donations come primarily from individuals, not from groups. He is willing to serve his country honorably without personal gain. Dr. Paul will do what is right for the U.S. based on the Constitution whether or not big money or big government likes it.
3. Dr. Paul has written a bill, called the Sun Light Rule that requires our politicians have at least 10 days to read bills before signing them.
2. Dr. Paul will bring practical wisdom, cut spending, balance the budget, stabilize the economy and probably be able to do away with the IRS and income tax, a tax that is not constitutional and was started to fund the civil war and supposed to stop after the civil war. He wants to abolish the U.S. Department of Education, giving the states and parents back control. He wants to do away with other large government agencies, restoring the rightful power to the states.
1. Dr. Paul's old-fashioned decency, integrity, honor and real-life experience are exactly what our country needs after hiring actors, puppets, oil and other group-connected slick sales men and marketers. He's been married to the same woman, Carol, for 54 years (married 1957).
Electing dishonorable, irresponsible, good-looking, smooth-talkers over the past several decades has eroded our country's stability.
Are Americans finally ready to elect an honest, decent man who will not listen to non-sense from regular Americans, politicians or corporations? A president who will be accountable and hold us all accountable? I hope so.
"Special interests have replaced the concern that the Founders had for general welfare. Vote trading is seen as good politics. The errand-boy mentality is ordinary, the defender of liberty is seen as bizarre. It's difficult for one who loves true liberty and utterly detests the power of the state to come to Washington for a period of time and not leave a true cynic." -- Dr. Paul
"He does not take money from corporate PACs. Lobbyists cannot sway him; to try is a waste of time. He never bargains with his own deeply held beliefs, nor does he cut backroom deals. Because his political views and his personal convictions are in complete harmony, he seldom faces a "tough" vote. And when the politicking for the week is over, he returns to his district to take up his lifelong occupation, which has nothing to do with politics." -- S. C. Gwynne

A great depression in this era, would be far more devastating than it was in the early 1900's. You have a far more complex society and infrastructure, far more programs and services, and a lot more enemies than originally.
If you don't vote in someone that's an expert on the economy, it will continue down its current path.
He is indeed all that you he is and our country desperately needs him and his philosophies to be acted on. These are the qualities of a Statesman. Dr. Paul is the ONLY statesman of our time.
He is a magnificent man.
Ron Paul and ONLY Ron Paul 2012
Ron Paul does get a lot of things right, and I am convinced of his honesty and integrity, I’m just concerned that predatory business practices that run on “business models built on tricks and traps” to quote Elizabeth Warren, are so powerful and so entrenched that, without oversight our economy will continue to be raped and pillaged.
To be predatory does little to help your cause. You're not even rewarded in a free market for being predatory. Submit your employees to unsanitary and unsafe working conditions. They'll quit and find a job that provides them with a better environment, anyway. Only by swaying to the markets' demands will your business survive.
Your self-interest is revealed through your spending habits. That is the only way our true interests can be revealed because you can't delegate the responsibility of choosing what you buy from anyone but yourself. When you do, you have special interests and corruption at a Federal Reserve-scale. This is why the black market is the freest and most ethical (ironically) economic model.
And you can never align Alan Greenspan or anyone who works for the Federal Reserve with the free market model. That's completely contradictory. If you believed in a free market, you would find no use for a central bank. You can search "Alan Greenspan Ron Paul" and find countless instances where RP tears into him.
The predators only come out when the government arms them, Mr. Mason.
It is painful to admit this, but many of us evangelicals have been duped by the Republican party establishment due to the seemingly conservative rhetoric. We have made fools of ourselves through sheer laziness and naiveté, which has resulted in untold damage to our civilization.
I believe Ron Paul is not only electable, but by far the most knowledgeable and capable of all candidates. He is an articulate spokesman and visionary of freedom. He is not a male model or a slick dresser. Isn't it time we change our ways and vote for someone whose image and decency flies in the teeth of the status quo?
I will never again make the mistake of the last election and vote against Obama or any other candidate. I either vote for someone because I believe in them or not anyone. If it is true that Ron Paul is the only good candidate, then it is better to risk another four years of the same elitist/socialist we can predict, than a new one in disguise as a Republican. I am not voting for a party or against a party. I am voting for a leader, and that leader is Ron Paul.
If Ron Paul wins the exit polls at Republican primaries but loses the official vote, will you support him running as a third party candidate?
This is not depressing if one trusts in a powerful God. "The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens!" [Psalm 113] The sons of the princes of men are but dust, but our God is truly in control of all history and cannot be thwarted, though men are often deluded by their own false sense of power. That is why I am willing to stay true to one man of integrity, heedless of his 'popular appeal'. The mainstream media's representation of these things is so deceiving anyway; Paul's message is gathering momentum, that is why the Republican establishment is afraid of him. It is rather exciting, don't you think?!
1 - Ron Paul wants to abolish the minimum wage
2 - Ron Paul wants to privitize EVERYTHING.
3 - Ron Paul would repeal affirmative action, and would keep the IRS from investigating school which may have used race as a factor of denying entrance
4 - Ron Paul is against regulations on industry of any type. Corporations would not be held accountable for their effects on society
5 - Ron Paul is for DOMA (anti-gay marriage)
6 - Ron Paul is opposed to the seperation of church and state.
7 - Supports off-shore drilling / building oil refineries / mining on federal lands
8 - Does not support crucial regulations in the Clean Air Act and the Soil and Water Conservation Act of 1977
9 - Ron Paul believes Social Security and Medicare should be abolished
10 - Would veto any funding to Planned Parenthood
Justlogic: "Again case law applies to all statutory law"
And yet case law is NOT statutory law. If it's on the books it is statutory law. If it's not on the books, it is not statutory law. Plenty of states have no fetal statutory laws, therefore "Every state DOES NOT HAVE A LAW ON THE BOOKS that make it equivalent.. blah blah,"
So you are still wrong. Those laws are not ON THE BOOKS in plenty of states.
PROVED!
Justlogic: "Now with the bill does the Gov have authority over abortion right now yes. He believes that the Constitution doesnt grant these powers"
WRONG! Ron Paul may SAY he believes that, but he VOTES for FEDERAL powers restricting abortion AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL. So he's a hypocrite.
justlogic: "He personnally doesnt believe that it should be a federal issue. But the only way to fight this is by using Federal means"
LOL! Prove it!
justlogic: "You cant fault him for using the only means to change the laws."
LOL! Prove it!
Federal law is not the "only means to change the laws" Plenty of states vote for restrictions on abortion. So you are WRONG AGAIN!
If voting for FEDERAL restrictions on our right to abortions is OK with the Ron Paul dogma, then why isn't OK to vote for Federal restrictions on plenty of other kinds of rights?
2. Millionaires thumbing their noses at pension's isn't that impressive and Ron Paul, like most politicians, is certainly not without hypocrisy. Google it.
3. If I wouldn't vote for a president based on something as shallow as good looks and smooth talking, why vote for someone based on the opposite characteristics?
4. Regardless of where Ron Paul gets donations for his campaign, his ideology would open the flood gates for huge amounts of corporate contributions that would only further dwarf the tiny significance of individual contributions in our under-regulated campaign system.
5. Other politicians with a small percentage of support also also have honor, decency, long marriages, etc.
6. Idealized views of what a Ron Paul utopia might look like are just that.
This article seems overly focused on electing someone based on his personal traits rather than on his ideas about governing. A thoughtful look at history clearly demonstrates the great societal suffering, desperation, and inequality that results from Ron Paul laissez-faire ideas about governing. Been there done that.
It is a lot of personal emotional fluff, the opposite of the "rational" promised in the title. And NOWHERE does the author actually even attempt to support her silly "only" rational choice claim.
If this is the best that Ron Paul fans can do, Ron Paul is not going to come close enough to the Republican nomination for the Republican establishment to steal it from him!
OK, so why are none of the others a "rational" choice?
There's nothing about that in the entire article.
Oh sure, it may be super-rational to select a Commander in Chief on the basis that "he co-owned a coin store for 12 years." But how does that support him being the "only rational choice?"
Rationality FAIL!
LOL!
Corpritisim government iin bed with some private sector areas like education, defense etc.
One of the biggest reasons we are where we are today is war. Ron Paul is the only candidate who will bring our troops home...immediately
You know...those patriotic men and women risking their lives defending our freedom.
And since Ron Paul receives more donations from active military than all other candidates combined...in his bid for President in 2008...and for 2012....It would seem to me that we should reward them with the President they want and the society they expect to come home to.
That is how we show support for our troops....it's the least we can do.
For which Al Qaeda will be eternally grateful.
Obama almost had them wiped out, but then Ron Paul saved them. Good for you, Ron Paul!
I also concern myself with the ACLU's opinion and Democracy Now's interview with Jeremy Scahill.
And, with upholding the Constitution.
Let's not forget that: The first casualty of war is the truth. and Al Queda was founded by the CIA. Yes, Al Queda...the terrorists we are handing Libya to. Brilliant!
