Everything You Need From the Hollywood Farmer's Market (Photos)

What's Your Reaction:

By now most of us know that buying locally and organically grown produce from farmer's markets is a healthier, safer, and more environmentally conscious option than buying pesticide-ridden, out-of-season-imported fruits and veggies from the supermarket. But is it worth a separate trip to the farmer's market to get all your produce? On a recent Sunday I stopped by the Hollywood Farmer's Market on Ivar to see what was in season and if the trip was worth it. What I found, to my surprise, was a marketplace full of things I'd rather get out in the open on a beautiful Sunday from local vendors than at a chain superstore. Here's just a glimpse of the many things, other than produce you can get at the Farmer's Market.

If you think you’ll be sticking around for a while and need extra shopping stamina, don’t eat breakfast at home. Instead grab a vegan breakfast sandwich from family-run operation A Taste of Life and eat it on the go. Or do what I did, which I do not recommend for our daintier eaters: get a breakfast sandwich to eat on the spot and a plate to go full of mac ‘n’ cheese, greens, barbecued tofu, lasagna, and cornbread.
