By now most of us know that buying locally and organically grown produce from farmer's markets is a healthier, safer, and more environmentally conscious option than buying pesticide-ridden, out-of-season-imported fruits and veggies from the supermarket. But is it worth a separate trip to the farmer's market to get all your produce? On a recent Sunday I stopped by the Hollywood Farmer's Market on Ivar to see what was in season and if the trip was worth it. What I found, to my surprise, was a marketplace full of things I'd rather get out in the open on a beautiful Sunday from local vendors than at a chain superstore.
