Good stuff! For some reason the second-to-last really did it for me. Just about as nonsensical as what he did say.

Its getting scarey out there. According to Rachel Maddow, there is a group of landowners that have a website advocating violence and violent armed revolution against our government.

Republican thugs ..have been daring Democrats to fight back now for decades..this is how they are able to rebound so quickly in politics. there was once a comic book called the hawk and the dove. Of course the hawk was republican and the dove was democrat or liberal (in theory) Truth be told..I think this image of a timid meek mild manner appeaser is the image connected to democrats..while the in your face, loud , masculine(see republican and young boys?) observe all of your news sound bites and broadcasts..where you have a dem and repub...the repub ...always ALWAYS ..talks over the dem..alway..ALWAYS leans over (invades the space) of the Dem. This is an image that is nurtured by the repubs.
While many may find think..this to be small..but it looks BIG on t.v. it looks like the Marlboro Man to the average American....heck I hate to say it but the current Speaker Of The House...seems to command mor respect than some of the Dem's out front of the media today....
We need Dem's that speak...and are heard...will not be pushed around and will seek out these CLOWNS ...where ever ..and speak the truth! We will loose the power that was won if we do NOT IMMEDIATELY have a more masculine....strong image projected to the general public.

(you actually hit some valid points...the images projected by the Dems is a large part of their problem --seem NOT wling to get down ,dirty, fight for THEIR rightful position--too above the fray --thinking that the high road is best --which it IS however its in the trenches where they lose time after time and no mmatter how on the mark , correct in principle, etc--keep coming off wimpified, and way too INARTICULATE !! Would thin after all their losses, with but incremental advancement when proven "right/correct", would think they would have developed measures to provide more expediency in matters large and small--find it amazing and painful--too many end up dead before shown as being right and dead right(right as in "correct" not rigteously hypocritically right) is coming off as a losing, costly battle /war and many have become way too weary !!

Rep Wilson may have a poor memory. It's easy to remember & shout, "You lie.". It's more effective too.
BTW, Rep Wilson is a retired military person. He no longer is subject to the UCMJ. The house has its own ways of censuring unacceptable conduct; let the house do their own thing. I believe that the house has chosen to give Rep Wilson a slap on the wrist.
Rep Wilson has chosen to cite the, "You lie", incident in his appeals for donations. That ploy is also being used by somebody who is running against Rep Wilson for his seat in the house.

Go to Counterpunch and read article by Lindorf. It contains many more points that SHOULD have been yelled about. Respect?? Why?
Yes he's the president, but when he speaks of Health Care being the biggest affect on the deficit our congresscritters should HOLLER. What about the cost of 2 illegal, unnecessary wars!! What about the cost of @650 military installations around the globe. Taliban is not Al-Queda(sp?)
What about the cost of the WallStreet bailout/ripoff/socialisation of losses with privatisation of losses?? Somebody should be HOLLERING all the time.
It's like trying to quiet a crowd at a B-ball game when the star is shooting free-throws. This ain't Golf! This is our great country in CRISIS while our government is at best, in DENIAL of the changes that must happen for any kind of free and prosperous country to survive.

Other Things Joe Wilson Might Have Meant to Say:

10. "You go, Mr. President!"
9. "Giving healthcare insurance to everyone is sick, just sick!"
8. "My mama didn't raise me to care about ailin' people!"
7. "Insurance companies have feelings, too!"
6. "Ain't nothing wrong with someone else's pain and suffering! It's good for their souls!"
5. "Immigrants -- other than my great granddaddy -- can go to hell!"
4. "Does this outburst make me look fat? Or just somewhat demented?"
3. "Hi, mama!"
2. "I'm important, too! You look at me!"
1. "I'm a Republican politician from South Carolina, I can say anything I want, and you are going to listen to me, by G-d!"

I dislike Wilson for his bad behavior; but now the phrase "You lie!" comes to mind as being personally useful in so many different situations! ("The check's in the mail": You lie! "Honey, I really do like that haircut after all" You lie! "I'll have to go and see if my manager will accept that offer on this car": You lie!)

The real "you lie" should've come from Obama to the clown who calls himself "Joe" Wilson. His real name is Addison Graves Wilson.

YOU LIE, FAUX JOE!

I had an interesting encounter with a teabagger today. It was so telling that I had to make it my Facebook status update.

Got called a NAZI by a teabagger today who was upset because I said they were just upset that an intelligent black man was President. He claimed that racism has nothing to do with it. After I informed him I'm Jewish and how pathetic it was to be... called a NAZI by a right winger, he said: "It's too bad they missed a few." It didn't take long for the inner-racist to pop out.

Oh, the irony!

It isn't an irony. Its really frightening. It indicates that in the end they will support anything to bring down the reforms of Obama. And they will continue to support anything which will make them ipso facto superior.

The only thing I can think of doing for these people is pray for them. Nothing else gets thru to them. And G)d knows they lack the good commonsense given to them at conception.

The older I get the more intolerant I get of ignorant people. I'll be a total BI by the time I reach 60 if people don't start to smarten up.

I'd say it would be good to start arresting these thugs that show up threatening our President. Isn't "conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace" still against the law? I know threatening a President is.

The wingnuts are doing the exact same thing the nazi's did. They are getting the ignorant masses all worked up to hate something they know very little about. This new generation of right wing brownshirts are picking on everyone that does not agree with them to try and establish their version of the 1000 year reich. The irony lies in their calling our President (elected by the majority this time) a nazi or whatever else they can come up with when they are acting just like some of the people in Germany did in the 1930's. What a terrible terrible situation this is turning into.

Joe Wilson's remarks were not impulsive. Those in Congress were given copies of it before-hand. Wilson thought he'd get away with it. Fortunately, he did get a rebuke from his chamber, and should have been under court-martial for insubordination to his Commander-In-Chief.

The Blue Dogs and GOP have been in bed with special interests for decades, and have wrought disaster upon this nation. They take multi-million dollar donations (which they don't have to repay if not used), gifts, perks, and junkets from lobbyists, then pander to their patrons who lay "golden eggs" for them, while killing our economy and people (literally).

They de-regulated financial institutions, the bankers went wild, took excessive risks, lost, then came to the very government they've vilified for years for a hand-out, and now are campaigning (with OUR TARP funds) to thwart reform of the financial services industries.

Insurers are the de-facto DEATH PANELS, when they deny, limit or drop coverage for those who become ill, knowing no hospital or doctor will treat them without it. This limits access to medical care for those who are ill, and nearly 18,000 Americans needlessly suffer and die each year as a result.

It's sad to think we went to war when 3,000 perished on 9/11, but those who abhor abortions, are pro-life, and hail the sanctity of life would allow such an abuse and loss of American lives for the sake of their own personal benefit.

So if being disloyal to the commander in chief warrants a court martial (whatever that is for a Congressman) then I assume you favor a "court martial" for every senator and congressman who spoke poorly of President Bush as well. For those that booed him at his speeches. For a certain former Senator who is now the president who has literally built a political career on trashing the Bush Administration.

The President is only Commander in Chief of our ARMED FORCES. He is not Commander in Chief of the Congress or of any of us. Chris Mathews on MSNBC actually referred to Obama as Wilson's "superior", which is utter nonsense.

I ageee that Wilson's outburst was out of line and lacking in decorum, but he's hardly the only pol tossing around the term "liar." Nancy Pelosi has suggested that the CIA is FULL of liars. George Bush was called a liar by somone in congress just about very day of his term.

All this talk about how the President deserves respect just because he's the President is just so much hooey anyway. Congress is not a church, and Obama is not a figure to be worshipped. Leave the creepy "cult of personality" stuff to the Russians and Venezuelans. In this country, our President is nothing more than one of US.

My how we've changed our definition of the President since Obama took the position.

Confirms my thesis all along, Republicans care about one thing and one thing only - TAX CUTS! There isn't a moral, ethics, religious, or patriotic bone in their bodies. They only worship one true god - MONEY.

To them this isn't a country - it's an enterprise zone.

Bush did lie about the war in Iraq. And about almost everything else. The CIA denied the torture charges, Thus they ARE liars.
It is not so much the President who should be respected but the OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT. Bush trashed the office of the president, he deserved no respect.
Obama honours the office of the president.
Wilson was simply way out of line.

1. As a member of the Reserve, the President in his capacity as the Commander in Chief is his superior (in the human race, I personally believe the same to be true)

2. Nancy Pelosi, suggested that the CIA is full of liars and surprise surprise- turned out to be right - but more importantly - they are not elected officials in the CIA now are they?

3. George Bush was called a liar by more than just one person in Congress just about everyday because he was one and he wasn't called on the floor ot the chamber

4. If your point that the President doesn't deserve respect just because he's the President is hooey - than I will assume you had no problem with George Bush being called a liar - particularly when again - it turns out he was!

5. Finally you are correct Congress until Addison Wilson's outburst was not a church If it had been one, hatred and ignorance would have been flowing far more freely.

5. Finally, if I understand your last line correctly - you feel that none of us deserve any respect because after all we're all also just one of us!

The issue is not so much that Wilson called Obama a liar (although I find it amusing that he chose to yell "liar" at a point in the speech where Obama was stating a fact that is easily substantiated). It's the time and place he chose.

No, Congress is not a church. Obama is not to be worshipped. Obama does not have to be respected simply because he is president (he's earned respect for any number of other reasons). BUT yelling out and interrupting a Presidential address to the Congress is not appropriate behavior. If nothing else, the Congress has long operated under at least an informal set of guidelines, if not a formal set of parliamentary procedures - when a speaker has the floor, you do not yell out interruptions or arguments.

But even aside from that, most of us were taught as children that it is just plain rude to interrupt. We were also taught that you are not rude to guests - and in the case of the President addressing Congress, he is an invited guest. And as to the President being one of us US, it would have been just as rude if someone yelled out and interrupted a speech YOU were invited to give to the Congress.

My Gran (a South Carolinian born and bred, coincidentally) would have been appalled to see one of us behaving so rudely to a guest in her home. I have a funny feeling that Wilson's grandmother would think the
