I'm still getting illegal robo-calls from predatory credit card lenders and debt consolidators, can't find a decent mattress for just about any price, and am still waiting to see a pay TV or cellphone contract that's not a consumer rip-off. And don't get me started about buying an American-made car that doesn't stay in the shop WAY too much, or buying affordable food that's simple, fresh, and healthy and not full of salt, sugar, excess fat, and dozens of toxic preservatives and enhancers.
And you don't EVEN want to hear the continuing saga of my hurricane damage repairs. We researched around 25 roofing contractors, talked to at least 15, were visited by 8, got 4 bids---and out of all 25, only 2 --TWO---were entirely legal and had decent BBB ratings.
Things are getting better for consumers, yes, but the marketplace still has a long way to go
luziannagirl: Dead? Who says predatory capitalism is dead? I'm still getting
Mattress's are cheap and everywhere I'd keep looking. I have a $24.99 a month prepay cell phone with 700 minutes. I watch tv online (hulu) and I buy American made Subaru's (no repairs 100k+ miles). Funny Walmart has a large selection of relatively cheap organic food. They also have no call lists for robo calls I don't get any.
As for contractors would a socialist system give you a better roofer? Ha I doubt it. 24 contractors vs 1 state contractor (hmmm). Your critique is hollow.

1) And a dirt-cheap mattress is our next purchase---throw it away & buy new one yearly. Waste of materials and our money, but maybe not next to back surgery & loss of sleep.
2) Prepay cellphone--also good suggestion and am seriously considering, but still too expensive for what one gets. Also doesn't reach to some remote areas we frequent.
3) Watch mostly digital public broadcast TV plus some online, too, and are thinking abt joining Netflix.
4) Heard good things abt Subaru, too, but by your standards one of our Toyotas is American-made.
5) Cheap organic food from WalMart I don't trust or buy--actually, the label "organic" is often misleading and doesn't necessarily equal "healthy".
6) No-call list---we were among first on both national and state, but started to get them again. Illegal as can be-- where's enforcement & prosecution?
7) No socialism for roofers, please, just enforcement of existing regulations!!!!
