Michael Jordan has been saying lots of stuff. He boasted that with the current rules in the NBA, he could score 100 points, something he never did when he played. His chatter doesn't enhance his legend.

Happy Thursday everyone, here's my Top 5 for October 21, 2010 from Len Berman at www.ThatsSports.com.

1. Quick Hits

* The Yankees stay alive and now trail Texas 3 games to 2 after after beating the Rangers 7-2. Game 6 is tomorrow night in Texas.
* The Giants take a commanding 3 games to 1 lead over the favored Phillies, winning game 4, 6-5.
* Today's Schedule:

Game 5 Phillies at Giants. 7:57pm Eastern. FOX.

* Rick Rypien of the Vancouver Canucks is suspended indefinitely for going after a fan in Minnesota. Check out the video at the 1:00 mark.

2. That Other Team
It's been often said, wouldn't you love to have been in that room when Brooklyn's Walter O'Malley somehow convinced Horace Stoneham to move the Giants to San Francisco? The Dodgers were a huge success in L.A. The Giants? Heartache for their fans. A windy stadium, near misses in 1962 and 2002. And when they hosted the 1989 World Series a deadly earthquake struck. The baseball Gods haven't been kind to the City by the Bay. Of course they did have Barry Bonds, but that's another story. Tonight the Giants can clinch their 4th World Series trip since moving west. It's one of the most iconic calls in all of sports, "The Giants win the pennant, the Giants win the pennant." Their fans deserve to hear it once again.
3. Talk Is Cheap
Michael Jordan has been saying lots of stuff. He boasted that with the current rules in the NBA, he could score 100 points, something he never did when he played. He also took a shot at Kobe Bryant, saying Kobe was in the top 10 of guards in NBA history. What made Michael Jordan great was that nobody could touch him on the court. Nobody. Actions speak much louder than words. His chatter doesn't enhance his legend.
4. On The Clock
Thanks to subscriber Lee R. for alerting me to the fact that during Monday night's Tennessee blowout of Jacksonville, the officials reportedly asked the Jags to take a couple of timeouts late in the game because ESPN had to get in some commercials. NFL games aren't long enough? Between replays and injury time outs games go way longer than 3 hours which used to be the norm 25 years ago. Now add every last commercial and TV promo and you're talking about a baseball game. In this age of mega stats, they don't list "length of game" in NFL box scores. I know, wiseguy, it's 60 minutes for regulation. Give or take 2 hours and 15 minutes.
5. Iambic Pentameter
The
Miami Herald
is conducting a poetry competition to honor the arrival of LeBron James in Miami. The deadline for all you bards out there is tomorrow at 6pm. Here's mine. Roses and red, violets are blue.Anywhere but in Miami,It's "Hey LeBron, Boo!!!"

Happy Birthday: The Chairman of the Board, Yankee pitcher Whitey Ford. 82.
Bonus Birthday: Famous for being famous, Kim Kardashian. 30.

Today In Sports: The Phillies win the first World Series in their 98 year history. 1980.
Bonus Event: The coldest World Series game in history, game 3 Florida at Cleveland. 38 degrees. Wind chill made it feel like 15. Of course the game took 4 hours and 12 minutes to play. 1997.
