Sarah Palin's Recipe for Middle East Peace

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

This is a quick treat that's great after hockey, and gets even better the next day! Can't negotiate on an empty tummy! Do they have microwaves in the Middle East?

TATER TOT CASSEROLE

1 (32-ounce) package frozen potato rounds
1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 (6 ounce) can French-fried onions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9 x 13 inch-baking dish. Arrange tater tots in the prepared baking dish. In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, cheese, and mushroom soup.
Pour this mixture over the tater tots. Sprinkle onions over the top of the casserole. Bake in the 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven for 45 to 60 minutes.

And for intractable geopolitical problems that require less fat, try this one! It's a little more exotic, I know, I know, it's a little Obama for my taste with fancy schmancy olive oil and fresh (FRESH!) parsley, but you know when you are trying to make peace, keep everyone happy and healthy like I do with my blessed family, state, and country, you need to keep your guns loaded, and those tickers ticking!

Healthier Tater Tot Casserole
1 pound extra-lean ground turkey
1 medium onion, chopped
2-3 garlic cloves, minced
1 large red pepper, seeded and chopped
3 medium carrots, peeled and chopped
3/4 cup sliced mushrooms
1 tablespoon olive oil
2- 10 1/2 ounce cans low sodium cream of mushroom soup
1- 2 pound bag frozen tater tots
1/4 flat leaf parsley, chopped
1 1/2 tablespoons onion power
1 tablespoon paprika

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large skillet, cook onions in the olive oil until translucent. Add garlic, red pepper, mushrooms, and carrots, and cook until soft. Add in turkey, parsley, onion powder, and paprika, and brown until fully cooked. Placed cooked meat mixture in a 9 x 13 inch pan. In a separate bowl, combine tater tots and cream of mushroom soup. Top casserole with the soup mixture. If desired, sprinkle with excess parsley and paprika. Bake for 50-55 minutes.

I linked a good picture from Vogue and an article featuring Palin under the question: Taiwan and China or Taiwan and Mainland China. Does she know the difference? http://www.chinationreport.com/

As a fervent Obama supporter, I surely hope that women CAN make an embarrassing joke of Palin before it's too late. If she wins with McCain, the odds are overwhelming that she will become a female Reagan superstar of the Republican right who would absolutely annihilate Hillary Clinton and conventional feminism with her in '12. (I hope Hillary's women GET this. If they are so dumb as to think that Hillary would chop her up, they truly are clueless about the American masses, just as anyone who thinks Biden can simply chop her up is.) But my fear is that feminist "elitists" who try to embarrass Palin by laughing at her as the provincial ignoramus she is, will simply be falling into the fool-proof Republican strategy since Reagan of nominating a dolt instantly accepted by the mass public as "one of us," then watching as the hated elites make fun of the dolt, thus insulting the mob which likes her precisely because she seems "normal" and "like us,." Then the mob revolts against the elites and "shows" them by electing the dolt in November. The challenge for feminists is to destroy Palin without falling into this trap. If Hillary doesn't step up to the plate to do this, and appeal with all her might to all the "little people" women she was "fighting" for in Appalachia, I don't see how the destruction of Palin can be pulled off.

well put jean renoir and i should add i thought twice or more times about posting this for exactly what you say. but i felt that this is really part of her self-presentation and it was a fair shot. if she really thinks that being a hockey mom is a qualification for the VP spot, well, she deserves this kind of attack.
and i should add that as a liberal effete arugula eater i was raised in tater tot pie land and i love it so much i think i would shove my kid out the way just to get some!

You are exactly right. In any debate the Democrats would be wise to treat her as though they were debating and discussing policy with Richard Lugar (R-IN). That is a can't lose strategy. Also movie themes should be kept in mind. If the "cool girls" are catty to the cute country girl who just enrolled in their high school, she usually ends up going to the Prom with the High School quarterback. We lose nothing by treating her respectfully. Let her stumble on her own without it looking like she was pushed.

Foreign affairs is no place for a mother!!!!!!!!!!!! The feminist movement was all about the ability to choose between WORK and FAMILY.

YOU CAN'T DO BOTH AT THE SAME TIME!

As a feminist and a mother, with a motherhood friendly job (ie. flexible and low-paying argh!) I could not agree more!

When I first heard of Gov. Sarah Palin being named Sen. McCain’s vice presidential choice, I thought it was a mistake. Upon further reflection on the astonishing thinness of her qualifications, I decided it was a catastrophe. Finally, when considering what position it placed the woefully underqualified woman in, I concluded it was an insult.

An insult to the voters for assuming they would fall for such a transparent manipulation; an insult to Gov. Palin for so coarsely putting her in a position that her background could not possibly prepare her for; and, finally, an insult to womanhood for thinking they could be so gullible as to fall for such a gender cardtrick.

In the Washington Post, we read: “’There will be a lot of questions about whether someone who was mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, just three years ago, whether she's ready to be commander in chief,’ NBC political director Chuck Todd told viewers.”

Personally, I think there is no question at all.
