Democrat Betsy Markey is getting ready to clash with opponents in a debate scheduled to be held in mid-October. Northern Colorado 5, a CBS Affiliate, reported the debate will also feature Republican Cory Gardner, Constitution Party candidate Doug Aden and Independent candidate Ken Waszkiewicz.

"This is a critical time for our country, and this debate will give people an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates about the issues that matter most to Coloradans," Northern Colorado 5 quoted Markey as saying.

The debate will take place in Loveland on October 19th. The debate will be recorded and played in its entirety on October 20th.

"We are so pleased Congresswoman Betsy Markey has finally agreed to a debate since that is a staple of running for public office," Republican candidate Cory Gardner's spokeswoman was quoted as saying.

Markey has been preparing for the debates as she has for events in the past, by gaining first
hand knowledge of what Colorado residents want to see happen in Washington. "She has been traveling around the district, hearing from people directly about their issues," says Markey campaign spokesman Ben Marter. Marter also adds that Markey is eager talk with Colorado residents in order to "put forward concrete solutions for Colorado Families."

As far as any specific hot issues that are anticipated to be raised at the debate, Marter says that Markey is ready to argue the issues she has always stood for, which include, "creating jobs, getting the economy back on track, energy, and healthcare."
