When Stephene Moore (D) decided to replace her husband, Dennis Moore's, congressional seat for the 3rd district in Kansas, it 'about knocked him over', according to Moore.

Moore is campaigning for her husband's seat, whom decided to step down in an effort to spend more time with his family. After growing concern for the 'direction of our country', she decided to run herself.

"The general population is angry. They're feeling like our government is not moving things forward; I know I can do this job," Moore said, last Friday, at supporter Burdette Loomis' home in Lawrence, Kansas "I want to bring real life experience to Washington D.C., instead of another career politician."

Moore has lived in Kansas for over 40 years. She attended Johnson County Community College, in Overland Park, Kan. and went on to attend nursing school at the University of Kansas while raising a family of seven kids. She helped start a small dental lab in 1975, which continues to thrive and is an avid supporter of the Mother and Child Health Coalition, Medical Mission Foundation and American Cancer Society.

"I love that she has a medical background," supporter Sandy Brown said. "She sees the big picture when representing Kansas voters in her district- she knows her district."

When she announced her decision to run, Moore said there were comments questioning her motives.

"Yes she's Dennis Moore's wife, and yes she's a nurse, but she has a brain," Moore said. "We are not just carbon copies of our spouses. I look at my children and my grandchildren - I'm really running for them."
