Update On New Name For Parents Blog

To all who are waiting, with bated breath, for the new name of my blog, I assure you we are working on it. You sent us more than 500 suggestions, and kept us (and the lawyers) busy vetting and checking and trying out.

Naming a blog turns out to be like naming a child. You spend a lot of time speaking your choices out loud, seeing how they "feel." You worry about the impression they make and the messages they send. And then you do your best to make sure your final choice isn't already being used by anyone else you know...

We are on that last part now. Stay tuned. Check this space. And thanks for all the help and interest so far.

I look forward to the new name. I was very sad to be a similar position to yours, Lisa, when I left the London Times and Alpha Mummy, the blog I had launched and nurtured over 4 years. The Times didn't chose to continue that blog - one of the top-ranked ones on its site - which made it all a real waste. A year later, I still have people coming up to me saying, "I loved Alpha Mummy, what happened?"

I look forward to the new, fabulous and most certainly trademarked name...

Is this a bad time to tell you that I trademarked the name "The Mommy Blog?" I'm amazed it went through, but then again, ten years building the brand has made me possessive. I should have chosen a less generic name.

500 suggestions?? Can I buy the list from you after you choose? : )
