Tourists and locals love the Hollywood Farmers Market, but their neighbors, the Los Angeles Film School, is blocking the renewal of much loved Sunday-morning organic market's permit. The film school wants access to their secondary driveway on Sunday mornings which would require half of the 150 vendors to relocate. The market closes for shoppers at 1pm.

Starting next week, the farmers' market will lose the use of Ivar Ave.

The Hollywood Farmers Market helps fund seven other farmers markets in the Los Angeles area, including Watts, South Central, Echo Park, East Hollywood, Crenshaw and Atwater Village.

City officials and SEELA are meeting meeting to discuss the options.

You can contact your city council person as well as Councilmember Eric Garcetti who serves the Hollywood area, as well as maybe dropping a polite call to LA Film School and letting them know how disappaointed you are in them as an example of higher learning and true community spirit.
