Delectably Devious

If you are looking to make your Sunday nights sizzle then you need to look no further than Devious Maids. All of the soapy drama that comes from your weekly soap opera and telenovela fix is laid out front and center in one seriously jam packed hour of television. Lifetime has most definitely stepped up its game and is providing seemingly endless flying sparks and mysteries. Don't turn your back on anyone on this show, because trust is not a two way street that exists in Beverly Hills.

The ties that bind four Latina maids on this new hit show run river deep. These ladies are bonded by their life challenges, jobs and drama. Rosie (Dania Ramirez), Zoila (Judy Reyes), Carmen (Roselyn Sanchez) and Valentina (Edy Ganem) share so many commonalities, but none of them could have stopped the chain reaction that was about to occur. After their friend, and fellow maid Flora (Paula Garces) is murdered everyone becomes a suspect, both the help and the homeowners. The laundry isn't the only thing that is dirty in the homes these ladies manage. Money and power can take you many places, including some seriously dark and disturbingly rooted ones.

None of these ladies have it easy at their jobs and none are aware of what pressures they separately face daily. Rosie is a widow who left her son back in Mexico and is employed by husband and wife actors who are self-absorbed and selfish. The wife, Peri (Mariana Klaveno) is having an affair and husband Spence (Grant Show) is oblivious, then again, he has a crush on Rosie. Rosie plays maid, nanny and mediator to this temperamental duo. Carmen has aspirations beyond doing someone else's laundry. She dreams of becoming a famous singer, with a little help from her famous employer Alejandro (Matt Cedeno) who happens to be a pop star! Unfortunately, there may be one person that may be blocking her way, Odessa, Alejandro's ever-loyal housekeeper and Carmen's boss. Zoila is the senior maid for the wealthy, emotionally unstable, Genevieve Delatour (Susan Lucci). Zoila works alongside her daughter Valentina who has a massive crush on Genevieve's son Remi (Drew Van Acker). Valentina will scheme, connive and do anything it takes to get her man.

And then there is Marisol (Ana Ortiz), originally hired to clean the home of Taylor and Michael Stappord (Brianna Brown and Brett Cullen). She soon pulls double duty to also clean Taylor's parents' home. All is not what it seems with Marisol who seems to have ulterior motives behind her over eagerness. Someone she loves has become entangled in Flora's murder, and Marisol will do whatever it takes to learn the truth. But Marisol goes undercover to learn and expose the truth.

Each episode just gets sudsier and sudsier as the drama unfolds and the heat gets turned up. The chemistry with these ladies is soaring off the charts. It's like these ladies know one another like the backs of their hands. Razor sharp and quick, the timing provides so much depth to their portrayals as does the crisp and smart writing. You just never know what situation will arise, what to expect, or what's going to come out of anyone's mouth. The teasing and pleasing go hand in hand on Devious Maids. It's a perpetual game of tug of war between naughty and nice. You never know just which is going to win out. Never underestimate these individuals, and never let your guard down, because each is a master in the art of pure manipulation. Gossip is an art form, and one that can have some serious consequences.

I am so glad that Ana Ortiz is back on television and I feel like her Devious Maids character may even have a few nods to her former Ugly Betty character Hilda. Edy Ganem is a breath of fresh air and brings vitality and charisma to her role as Valentina. Judy Reyes is incredible bringing depth and spunk to Zoila, she knows how to nurture and show power all at once. Sanchez is no slouch either! She showcases the ability to juggle humor, tension, tragedy and emotion and makes it look effortless.

Sunday nights have become a sinful seduction when you tune into this Lifetime sizzler. Glitz and glamour may weave a spell on you, but it's the sensational performances and scintillating storylines that take center stage for a night of passion, scandal, heat and heart pounding drama. Each lady places an intricate piece to this captivating game of Clue that plays out Sunday nights. All you have to do is tune in to Devious Maids and figure out who done it and enjoy every deviously delicious and shocking minute of it.
