Many think of doggy boutiques as fun places to take furry pooches to get treats, toys, or accessories, but Barkfield Road in East Northport, New York, is that and then some. Carol Andersen, the founder and owner, is very involved in the world of animal rescue and uses her store to support local rescue groups.

Barkfield Road has done everything from microchipping clinics to holiday photos with Santa to training classes and much more, with all money raised benefiting local shelters. More than anything, Carol wants every animal to have a home, but while they are in their temporary shelter homes, Carol does what she can to make all fur babies happy!

Rescue groups and shelters -- such as the League for Animal Protection of Huntington, Break the Chain Program and many others -- come into Barkfield to raise awareness of the issue of homeless animals.

Barkfield Road is also ahead of the game with their treats. All treats are USA-made and locally baked and use only natural and safe ingredients for pets, a great thing to know, since a lot of dog foods and treats are coming under public scrutiny for using harmful ingredients and are coming from China.

If you're looking to support small business, get the best food for your pet, or support local rescue groups, be sure to check out Barkfield Road.
