We had the pleasure of visiting a new area in Western New York called Watkins Glen. Many of you NASCAR and racing fans will have heard of this place, as it has hosted many races throughout the years.

1. Nickel's Pit Barbeque- Run by a fellow Western New Yorker, Nick, he creates BBQ at it's finest. The kitchen and prep areas inside are open to allow you to see how everything is made. The open concept is a great conversation starter as since it is something you just do not see everyday. From Brisket, Ribs to Chicken wings, baked beans and fries there is a little something for everyone! I would recommend the Chipotle Honey Chicken wings. The flavoring is sweet with a bit of tang and just the right amount of spices. If you are into antiques, BBQ and a good time this is a great place to visit.
2. Seneca Harbor Station- We stopped in here for a late lunch. A restored train station opens to a inviting nautical atmosphere. Walls of windows let in views of the harbor and docking ships. The menu holds a true nautical theme throughout. We all ordered different dishes and each one was perfectly executed. Pricing is very affordable, overall a great place to sit and enjoy the surrounding area. Try the desserts you will not be disappointed. After a meal, I recommend, a walk on the pier!
3.
Stonecat Cafe
- This was just down the road from our cabin at Single Island Shores in Hector, N.Y. As we ventured back to our cabin each day we passed this establishment. We saw a buzz of people filtering in and out. I just had to stop, take a look around and try some of the food. Enjoy grass fed and natural ingredients in creative dishes while dinning in a relaxed atmosphere. Views include farms and vineyards over looking Seneca Lake. My personal favorite the Hector Pulled Pork BBQ sandwich, it came with fresh dill Cole slaw and a pickle!
4.
Harbor Hotel
- Our first dinner was hosted right here on Lake Seneca. Once we arrived and seated we had the pleasure of seeing a gorgeous wedding taking place outside by the water. They have a few different dining areas you can enjoy you meal, outside, bar area and an upscale dining room. The restaurant is a business casual setting with luxury decor and atmosphere. The bar menu offers exceptional tasting cuisine at reasonable rates if you are just stopping for a quick meal. I recommend the chocolate cover cherries with whipped topping!
