Thank God for the Blessing of Science

Speaking at a panel sponsored by Glamour magazine this week, Mary Cheney, answering a question about her pregnancy, was quoted as saying, "This is a baby. This is a blessing from God. It is not a political statement. It is not a prop to be used in a debate, on either side of a political issue. It is my child. Buy my book about being a gay republican"
OK, I MADE THAT LAST SENTENCE UP.

I have no desire to write about Mary Cheney asking for privacy at a Glamour magazine function attended by tons of press. You can make a judgment call about that without my input.

It was just that after reading her statement, I was reminded that we rarely hear about the blessings from God that those of us in the reality-based community are so thankful for.
Here are some blessings I would like to hear said a little bit more.

Thank God for the blessing of science.

Thank-You God for blessing us with scientists who have given us a wake-up call on global warming so we can change our ways and become good stewards of this earth He has blessed us to inhabit"

Thank-You God for blessing us with scientists who have given us the hope of curing diseases like Parkinson's and ALS through stem cell research

Thank-You God for blessing us with scientists who have made it possible to conceive a child through invitro fertilization

Thank-you God for blessing us with scientists who debunked the myth that homosexuality is a disease

Thank God for Blessing us with scientists who created birth control, blessing us with the individual choice to plan a family as we see fit

And finally, Please God bless us with politicians who understand these blessings.

PS: God, we need some more explaining on why You created war and James Dobson.
But thanks for science it is awesome.
