Aussie brothers Liam and Chris Hemsworth are just like you. They do normal brotherly things like attend movie premieres, snap pictures of each other at the beach and even help one another audition for big-budget movies. That's how Liam landed the part of Jake Morrison in the sequel to 1996's Independence Day, Independence Day: Resurgence.

Liam along with Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A. Fox, Jessie T. Usher and the film's Director Roland Emmerich stopped by AOL BUILD on June 14th to talk all things Resurgence, including the audition process for the newbies.

For the younger Hemsworth the audition process started two years ago when he met with Emmerich.

"He told me his vision for this film," Liam said, "and I was very excited by that."

Two months later, Emmerich told Liam to "send a couple of tapes in" from a few different scenes. Liam enlisted the help of his older brother Chris, who he was staying with at the time, and the rest is history.

"He played Patricia," Emmerich interjected, "Thor played Patricia!!"

If you're unfamiliar with Independence Day, Patricia (played by Maika Monroe) is the former first daughter and the love interest to Jake (Liam's character).

"He's [Chris] got long hair, it was very believable," Liam explained.

Watch Liam tell the hilarious story below.

Where are these audition tapes?? Personally I'm dying to see them. Hopefully they'll be included in the special features section of the DVD. In the meantime, check out Resurgence in theaters June 24th!
