'Tis the season, as they say, but this year Outspeak wants to take a different approach to celebrating the holidays in order to give everyone a little more perspective on the world we live in.

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, all of the above, or none of the above, we want to hear how you celebrate the holidays. We want to know what you're doing to make the world a better place this time of year. We want to encourage an open discussion around the holiday season.

It's been a rough year, and Holidays with Perspective is looking to change that by celebrating diversity and proving that there's still a lot of good in the world. Topics you might want to explore include:

  • How holidays are celebrated in other cultures/countries
  • What you are doing to make the world a better place this holiday season
  • The importance or unimportance of holidays (no "I hate X holiday" videos)
  • Why you don't celebrate any holidays
  • A unique tradition you hold with your family (no, eating turkey and arguing with your family is not a unique tradition)
  • Holiday satire videos (example: 5 Social Justice Gift Ideas, Better Ways To Spend Your Money This Holiday Season)

The FunkBros are helping Outspeak to launch our Holidays With Perspective initiative in classic FunkBros style. Check out what they're doing to spread some holiday cheer in the video below:

Please Keep In Mind The Following When Filming Your Video:

  • Make sure you're shooting in a well-lit, non-distracted environment.
  • Keep the shots well-composed and in focus.
  • Keep the video short, 1-3 minutes preferred.
  • Keep the video focused on one theme. People will listen if you can speak focused and passionately.
  • Take a unique approach. How is this personal to you? Why is this issue in particular something you're passionate about?
  • Do not use offensive or derogatory language. If used maliciously or recklessly, your video will not be considered for circulation.
