Decorating a Christmas tree is a tradition held around the world. Head over to the farm, pick out a tree, chop it down, bring it home, throw some tinsel and shit on it, put presents under it, and then toss it to the curb as soon as the festivities are over.

This year, activist and hip-hop artist Gaiaisi is challenging us to make a difference by slightly change our wasteful traditions. Rather than throwing the tree in the garbage once the holiday season is over, why not keep the tree alive and re-plant it in a safe place? It's a small gesture, but one that could potentially have a major impact on our planet in helping to combat deforestation. According to Gaiaisi in the video below, it could save up to 2 billion trees on a yearly basis.
