My colleague Oistein Thorsen went to the areas affected by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), one of Africa's most brutal armed groups. The communities he visited - in an isolated part of the Democratic republic of the Congo - are particularly vulnerable to attacks by the LRA.

On a recent trip to "Province Orientale" he saw first hand how the isolation breeds insecurity. The area affected is the size of the UK and phone reception is limited to the centre of one town - Dungu.
