If I'm being completely honest, I can't believe I haven't written this post soon; it combines my two most favourite things: books and food. You can't go wrong...

I've managed (with the help of some friends) to dream up the best dinner party of all time. A dinner party where there is baked camembert for starters and a number of my favourite fictional characters as guests. Narrowing down the guest list was a difficult task but unfortunately there were a limited number of seats at my imaginary table! In the end, I decided on characters would either complement or contrast against one another.

1. Aslan - The Chronicles of Narnia

He would, without question, be sat at the head of the table. I think that the majority of my evening would be spent just sitting there, in awe of his wisdom. Also, imagine his table manners... Impeccable.

2. Jo March - Little Women

She would definitely hold her own in the company of such powerful personalities. Outspoken, passionate, caring. She'd bring a welcome dynamic to the evening's atmosphere.

3. Elizabeth Bennet - Pride and Prejudice

Her intelligence and quick wit would ensure the conversation stays pacey and interesting, a must for any dinner party. Nothing worse than sitting, stirring your soup awkwardly, waiting for an icebreaker (speaking from experience). Also, imagine her and Jo March - they would make the ultimate tag team.

4. Bridget Jones - Bridget Jones' Diary

Bridget would definitely make me feel better about missing my mouth and spilling gravy down my top - it's bound to happen. The conversation between her, Lizzie Bennet and Jo March would be quite something and she would be so much fun after a glass or three of wine.

5. Roland Deschain - The Dark Tower Series

He would contribute to a really interesting mix of personalities and would be brilliant to speak to one on one. The stories he'd have to share... They'd be amazing.

6. Professor Dumbledore - Harry Potter Series

First of all, he's the greatest wizard of all time; I have so, so many questions. Secondly, imagine the chat between him and Aslan - Agony Uncles galore.

7. The BFG

Let us assume that he can fit at the table. I would love to share a dinner with a character so friendly, caring and full of good intentions. Also, he's a giant!

8. Mr Darcy - Pride and Prejudice

To be completely honest, I'd just really like to witness his and Elizabeth's relationship first hand. He would so be in his element at a dinner party such as this. I suppose it might also be quite nice to sit directly opposite him.

9. Nanny Ogg - Discworld Series

Seat Nanny Ogg next to anybody and she would fit in brilliantly; she gets on with everyone! I would love to sit down with her and ask for general life advice. She's also partial to a beverage or two... Never a bad thing!

10. Count Dracula

After a feed and on his best behaviour of course. Well, he's a vampire (which is really quite the icebreaker). He'd be brilliant to chat with. Plus, it's always interesting to have contrasting personalities!

11. Matilda

Firstly, she'd make passing the salt down such a long table a lot easier. Second, she loves books just as much as I do. Imagine the book chat...

That's my dream dinner party complete! I would have loved to have created the ideal three course menu too but thought I'd leave that down to you guys. Let me know who you'd invite to your dinner, is there anybody above who would be on your list too?
