It would seem that even baby sloths can suffer a bad attack of the Mondays. But Sebastian, the baby in this clip, is not so much blue from sadness as feeling the cold. He's an orphan at the sloth sanctuary of Costa Rica. Sloths can't control their body temperature like other mammals and the Costa Rican nights can be a trifle chilly for an orphaned baby who no longer has his mom to cling to. So the sanctuary came up with the novel idea of making sloth pajamas to keep the tiny babies warm. It takes two sports socks to make one sloth onesie. Preferably unworn. It's a great example of the kind of ingenuity required to run a sanctuary that looks after such an idiosyncratic animal.

The clip is from my sloth sanctuary documentary. It is called 'Meet the Sloths' and premieres on Animal Planet on March 4, 2012 and features some seriously happy sloths. The only person who could possibly shed a tear after watching it is Kristen Bell.
