Pat Robertson: Your Arms Are Too Short to Box with God

It is interesting that Robertson hasn't blamed Hurricane Katrina on God's anger toward liberal organizations like he did the September 11th terrorist attacks, but, of course, we are talking about the South, not the Northeast.

Hey, some people think that Pat Robertson, the leader of the 700 Club, buried himself with his criminal remark that America should assassinate Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, but I wouldn't count on it. It was only a week after Pat's pronouncement that FEMA encouraged people to give hurricane relief money to Operation Blessing, Robertson's charity organization, along with the Red Cross. I learned from NJDC News that Operation Blessing was charged two years ago with violating Virginia State's charitable solicitation law for using tax-exempt cargo planes for Robertson's diamond-mining operation in Zaire, instead of for humanitarian purposes.

FEMA, have you no decency??

It is interesting that Robertson hasn't blamed Hurricane Katrina on God's anger toward liberal organizations like he did the September 11th terrorist attacks, but, of course, we are talking about the South, not the Northeast.

If you read the following quotes recorded over the years by People For the American Way, you will see that this rascal has been at it for a long time and it isn't about to stop. These are just a few examples that are shocking, sad and dangerous. This is a man who influences millions of people, the President and his vast administration.

I find the first quote ironic considering Rehnquist's death last weekend.

THE SUPREME COURT

St. Louis Post-Dispatch, 3-13-87 "...[P]ray somehow that those gentlemen on the Supreme Court, a couple of them, will either take retirement or be graduated to that great courtroom in the sky."

Interview with the Washington Post Editorial Board, 6-27-86 "I am not bound by any case or any court to which I myself am not a party...I don't think the Congress of the United States is subservient to the courts...They can ignore a Supreme Court ruling if they so choose."

700 Club, 1-11-85 Asked "you're not saying that there are no other people qualified to be in government beside Christians and Jews?" Robertson: "Yeah, I'm saying that I think anybody whose mind and heart is not controlled by God Almighty is not qualified in the ultimate to be the judge of someone else and I think judges should be in turn submitting to the judge of the universe."

700 Club, 10-4-99: "Congress has the right of limiting the appellate jurisdiction of the Supreme Court. The problem is they're all scared to exercise their prerogative.

"The liberals knew -- ladies and gentlemen, this is very important -- the liberals knew that they could not move their agenda forward through the general population because the general population wouldn't go for it. So a small elite, primarily at Harvard and at some of the other law schools, said 'well the way to get this done is through the court. We'll take some of these tortured cases up and we'll get the court to go along with this on these issues and look how they'll turn it around.'"

THE POOR

700 Club, 3-8-95 "It really isn't compassionate to take somebody's money and give it to somebody else. That's not compassionate. The Democrats say 'We're compassionate.' That isn't compassion...And I don't think there's anything in the Constitution that says the government owes anybody welfare or a job or anything. The government does not owe grants of money to any group in our society."

700 Club, 2-6-92 on President's Bush health care voucher proposal, "You are guaranteed the poor will be stealing from it like they do food stamps and everything else."

CHRISTIANITY

"Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It's no different. It is the same thing. It is happening all over again. It is the Democratic Congress, the liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the Christians. Wholesale abuse and discrimination and the worst bigotry directed toward any group in America today. More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history."

Robertson's views of other Christian, non-"born again" denominations, "You're supposed to be nice to Episcopalians, Presbyterians and Methodists ... Nonsense. I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist."

JUDAISM

"Robertson said that "liberal Jews" were mounting "an ongoing attempt to undermine the public strength of Christianity." Robertson has also said, "The Antichrist is probably a Jew alive in Israel today."

FEMINISM

According to Robertson, feminism is a "socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."

"I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that's the way it is, period."

700 Club, 7-27-95 "As long as the husband is following the mandate of the Lord, the wife should submit to his leadership even though she may disagree with it. God's standard is true. Yet in many marriages, the wife is more able than her husband. Regretfully a woman with great abilities sometimes marries a man who does not have much ability. This wife must resist the temptation to dominate her husband. Her husband will sometimes make decisions that the wife feels are wrong. She must either gently persuade her husband or that pray that God will change her husband's mind. A woman has voluntarily surrendered a portion of her autonomy to her husband when she marries."

SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE

"There is no such thing as separation of church and state in the Constitution. It is a lie of the Left and we are not going to take it anymore."

US CONSTITUTION

"The Constitution of the United States, for instance, is a marvelous document for self-government by the Christian people. But the minute you turn the document into the hands of non-Christian people and atheistic people they can use it to destroy the very foundation of our society. And that's what's been happening."

RACISM

In response to Robertson asking Mason Weaver if he knows if Jesse Jackson (and Al Sharpton) are paid by the democratic party to garner black support Mason Weaver stated: "His only job (Jesse Jackson) is to get the slaves (African Americans) enough government cheese to be healthy enough to get to the polls to vote for the master." Pat Robertson: "The ones I've seen always point to the honky that's got the foot on their neck and don't say its not the honky who's breeding little babies out of wedlock and stuff like that"

700 Club, 3-18-92 "I think 'one man, one vote,' just unrestricted democracy [in South Africa] would not be wise. There needs to be some kind of protection for the minority, which the white people respresent now."

700 Club, 4-13-93 "You hear all this business about South Africa, I've been to South Africa. I know we don't like Apartheid, but the Blacks in South Africa, in Soweto, don't have it all that bad. Winnie Mandela lived in a $450,000 house in Soweto."

700 Club, 4-26-95 "The term 'Black' really carries with it a militancy, doesn't it? There is something about it that is hard, that says, 'Man, we're going to get you.'"

HOMOSEXUALITY

700 Club, 6-6-88 "...What kind of craziness is it in our society which will put a cloak of secrecy around a group of people whose lifestyle is at best abominable. Homosexuality is an abomination. The practices of those people is appalling. It is a pathology. It is a sickness, and instead of thinking of giving these people a preferred status and privacy, we should treat AIDS exactly the same way as any other communicable disease..."

700 Club, 5-2-86 "We have a bankruptcy of morality and AIDS is the consequence."

700 Club, 6-20-90 "Many observers say that AIDS is the hammer and gun of the homosexual movement, an effective vehicle to propel the homosexual agenda throughout every phase of our society."

700 Club, 1-18-94 "...[Homosexuals] want to come into churches and disrupt church services and throw blood all around and try to give people AIDS and spit in the face of ministers..."

WORLD GOVERNMENT

700 Club, 5-9-95 "Every transaction will be instantaneously recorded. And of course everywhere you go, every time you buy gasoline, every time you get on an airplane, every trip, every purchase, everything will then be under the scrutiny of Big Brother. Does that sound frightening?...Assume a major natural disaster, a killer earthquake or a meteorite striking the earth. And suddenly the nations are faced with crisis, and they must move together for survival. And out of that comes a federation of nations, and then there comes a one-world government...The Bible says that those who take the 'Mark of the Beast,' who submit to this world system are one day going to find that they are in league with the enemy, and they're opposed to God, because there will be more than merely buying and selling. It will have to do with religious faith and religious belief and worship of the central power."
