This weekend, families and communities around the country will join together in celebration of Earth Day. Every year, this day is a reminder that we need to spend the other 364 days of the year being even more environmentally conscientious and making an even greater effort to preserve our natural treasures. To mark this occasion, I released a video explaining my legislation, the Gulf of the Farallones and Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuaries Boundary Modification and Protection Act (H.R. 192).

Watch the video below and share it with your friends.

My bill would permanently protect the entire Sonoma and southern Mendocino County coasts by expanding the existing sanctuaries and shielding the area from offshore oil and gas drilling. The video includes details about the bill, highlighting the widespread community support from local governments, environmental advocates, business groups, and fishing organizations.

The coast is essential to the natural beauty and economic vitality of California's North Bay. During my remaining time in Congress, I have no greater priority than to pass this legislation and safeguard our rich and abundant waters.
