I typically have smoothies for breakfast-
My favorite is spinach with apples and with lemon juice, flax seeds, a dollop of coconut oil and a tinge of buckwheat honey (optional).

THen a simple soy milk with blueberries and cardammon is yummie.

Also the strawberry, soy milk, banana and flax seed with honey is delicious.

Lastly the beets, apples and lemon juice with flaxseeds is really refreshing.

But I guess I can expand to try the recipes in the blog especially the avocado one.

Yummm.....

I am curious as to why a thread on making smoothies needs to be fully moderated though. What gives?

We are blessed to live in berry heaven in Oregon. I u-pick and grow 100 lbs. of berries that are frozen and stored in my chest freezer for year-round use. Basic smoothie recipe: 2 cups frozen berries (strawberries, blueberries, marionberries, best in combination), 1/2 cup yogurt, one banana, a slice of cantaloupe when in season, and equal parts orange juice and milk to make 4 cups in a blender. Puree and serve; makes two 16-oz servings.

I'm glad I perused the recipes because I took special notice to the use of honey. I look forward to using just a bit to sweeten my smoothies.

Thank you Marcus! I will give these a try since I'm in a bit of a smoothie rut - mostly frozen berries & peaches w/ or w/out almond milk - your ideas sound delicious and inspiring. BTW I'm a long-lost old friend who used to work at Aquavit, circa 1997 ;)
