9 Ultimate Burger Recipes

Posted: 11/15/11 09:18 AM ET

When I'm in need of a quick meal or party dish, a burger is hands-down my go-to pick! Burgers are easy, fast and don't even require utensils to eat, making them the perfect get-together main course, tailgating essential, and simple dinner recipe to whip up any night of the week. With all the endless varieties and toppings you can add to burgers, there's no need to keep munching on the boring burgers and ketchup found at all the tailgating events and BBQs. Consider using different proteins for the base of the burger, like pork, chicken, seafood or veggies. All of these variations still make for a fork-free, bun-wrapped delicious dish.

Check out these 9 ultimate burger recipes that I put together with Food Republic for a new take on the classic American staple.

Thank you Mr. Samuelson! I am a lifetime devoté of the hamburger and have had every kind from the greasy grill prefab sawdust filled burger patties (and how tasty they were!) at the Army Base snack bar where I grew up, to Louie's Lunch in New Haven to the awesome (but pricey) Ahi Tuna Burger at the Four Seasons Hotel Lobby Lounge, to the best Tempeh burger in the world (Northampton, Mass, cant remember the name of the place, near Smith College). The burger is one great American contribution to the world.

The stuffed burger is awesome. My friend makes them and calls them juicy lucy after a burger that's made in a cafe in Minneapolis.

None of these look appealing! just give me a nice fat burger on the old fashioned charcoal grill marinated in a lil steaksauce and beer with mushrooms, onions, bacon, swiss, and cheddar with an onion grilled Kaiser bun grilled in garlic butter, now that's what I call a burger! it has a million calories and really only a once on occasion supper, but cooked that way it's absolutely scrumtious!!!

Burger #5 is the only one I would eat. It's the only one that looks like a burger among all those other imposters.

I love making a well in my buger meat, then placing a piece of blue cheese inside wrap the meat around the cheese, make my burger and cook it medium. Then I use some mustard as a condiment, and argula it is delicious.

I also wrap my burger with di parma prosciutto and cook, the taste is out of this world.

I also don't like the term " sliders ".It makes me think of snakes. Why don't we all just say baby burgers like they did at old Hamburger Hamlet.HH was famous for their baby cheeseburgers. We say baby back ribs too.

Use ground chuck for starters always ! Ad some garlic--powder/salt , liquid smoke, sometimes a drop of soy sauce is good too, some ginger, lemon pepper, pepper, some caramelized onions, various cheeses options, fresh buns/rolls of yr taste or eat it bun free...

I loved the seasoned or stuffed burgers.I usually just marinate my hamburger meat in a T or two of soy or teriyaki sauce.I like my burgers very thin, about a 8 th of a inch thick. The burgers at most restaurants are huge, half a pound or more.

Let's get something straight....Burgers are not made out of vegetables...or chicken...or turkey...or beans....or crabs......They're made out of beef. Period.

Try bison chuck, the John Wayne equivalent of beef.

Otherwise, I agree with you. They're just not burgers, they're veggie, chicken, turkey, bean or crab sandwiches.

It's like "Vegetarian Meatloaf". There's no such thing. It's "Veggie Loaf", or better yet, as the two descriptors cancel each other out, "Loaf".

I make a great chicken burger but it is now low fat. I grind the whole chicken, light and dark and deep fry the skin into cracklings. I blend the meat with the cracklings and add in some duck fat and fermented black beans and then grill. Once a year it won't kill me.

Also, where's the Blackened Bleu Burger?

And, then there's my proprietary Bacon/Rajas Burger.
