Mike Huckabee is having his moment, if you haven't heard. The folksy, witty Baptist preacher with the Gomer Pyle face deserves it, if for nothing other than giving the U.S. presidential debates a touch of humanity.
He really is a compassionate conservative, the kind who drives the low-tax, small-government wing of his party insane. Don't the Christian conservatives realize they are the foot soldiers of the Republican party, not its candidates?

Huckabee never had a boom...
Maybe a media boom, but that was about it..
He has no money!
They NEVER SAY THIS.
HE IS BROKE!!!
LOL!
They ignore the real "boom", but NOT for long!
My candidate has gone up against these same neoconservatives and biased media before in our home district.
He uses their corrupt positions against them, and plays the media like a finely tuned fiddle!
Watch how the bombs begin to drop soon!
We have seen this before...
He plays them EVERY TIME!
It is very amusing to watch.
Like politics used to be..
He has won EVERY time against them both..
Ron has kept these neoconservatives out of Galveston for 20 years!!Woo-Hoo!
The neoconservatives have spent millions of dollars over the years to try to unseat him, and have LOST EVERY TIME.
His is a record I will get behind!
The last time, a few years ago, the Neos got a Dem challenger to jump ship and join them against Dr. Paul in this left leaning district..
They wanted this Democrat turned Republican to take Dr. Pauls seat..
They promised this Democrat if he would switch parties, he would run unopposed!
The only problem was, Dr. Paul did not agree to this!
He won that election, it wasnt even close!
Placing the corrupt democrats, and the oil chuggin' neos, in the corner for YEARS to come!
They still to this day refuse to talk about this.
Both parties..
The parties cant even figure out what it is about Ron the people love so much!
Typical Stupid Politicians!!!
The problem with your criticisms is that most Republican voters don't care about your issues with Mr. Huckabee.
First of all, Arkansas still enjoys an effective state and local tax burden of 10.3%, which is below the national average of 11%. The club for growth is just a mouth piece for greedy gazillionaires. Regular religious Republicans can take or leave their opinions.
Secondly, Republicans criticizing Republicans over a pardon does not carry the same weight as Republicans criticizing Democrats. Many voters believe that Republicans are tougher on crime than Democrats -- even if it isn't true.
AIDS quarantine? Accusing a Democrat of being soft on pornography? Petty expenses? Again, for the same people who support Bush, Mike is just a better Christian -- and smarter.
Fred is dead. Rudy is a serial aldulterer. Mitt has the wrong religion. Hunter, Tancredo are nuts. McCain? Very experienced - maybe. Huckabee? The Bill Clinton of the religious right.
Disclosure (I'm a Hillary supporter).
There is a HUUUGE power vacuum in the Republican party. The fact that Huckabee is now the front-runner shows just how much the party is in disarray, with fiscons, socons and warhawks unable to find a unifying candidate. I expect Mike Bloomberg will fully take advantage of this chaos.
