"Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as is ever so on the road," said Jack Kerouac in his novel "On the Road." While there is some romanticism in traveling from one place to another, meeting different people, having casual conversations and making new friends, traveling nowadays, particularly by car, is often more a necessity than a choice.

The first cars were produced in the 19th century and were mainly used by rich people. They soon started being more and more popular and at the beginning of the 20th century, the cars were put into a mass production. Henry Ford has become one of the pioneers in America to successfully establish cars mass manufacturing providing innovative methods of business operations. And so, quite quickly the automotive industry has grown and spread to Europe and then to other countries as well. Nowadays we can enjoy the benefits of having a variety of cars in the market meeting different needs.

In today's world having a car isn't a luxury, but quite often a necessity, especially if one lives in the city outskirts and has to go to work quite far away. The cars have changed our lifestyle significantly as they give us a lot of flexibility and independence in terms of movement. They are quite affordable now for the majority of people. Having a car gives numerous opportunities for comfortable traveling, as one can go away for the weekend somewhere he or she wants, can stop a car whenever he or she needs. Even if there's a good public transportation in the city, one might use both public transport and a car, especially when one needs to get to the destination place faster or needs to go somewhere at night. We travel much more these days, sometimes because we need to, sometimes because we want to see some other places. That's why it's not surprising that a lot of people spend more and more time in the cars, - and so the cars have become our second homes, our new castles.

The car industry is constantly developing and adjusting to new changes. In the world market of cars, one can find different types of vehicles meeting individual's needs and criteria for choosing a car. Among top car manufacturers are Toyota, General Motors, Volkswagen, Hyundai, and many others. But, of course, the list is often updated by new manufacturers. Since we don't buy cars very often and treat our cars as our castles, it's not surprising that we try to do as much research as we can before making an important decision of buying a car. While we tend to trust the already established car manufacturers more, we shouldn't be afraid of the purchase of the car from a manufacturer that isn't as well-known in the world's market, - the well-known car manufacturers today were once not so widely recognized. That's why, I think, it's good to follow the new trends in the market and to listen to other people's opinions regarding new brands.

One of my acquaintances has recently come back from her journey to China and told a lot about some new good brands there. For example, when one wants to buy a new car in China, GAC Motor company has become one of the leaders of good standard car manufacturers. It's a young, but an extensively growing company that continuously expands its markets. It takes into account the market demand for cutting-edge product ranges, quality, top-notch technologies and, of course, the affordability. I think it's great when each country produces the cars that best fit their national demands and then slowly moves to the international markets that have similar needs. GAC Motor company aims mainly at middle-income countries and regions. Not everyone can afford to spend too much money on the car, and so there should be different options for different customers in the market The company has already gained the trust of Chinese customers having won the award as China brand of the year. It's important that high-quality new brands appear in each country as it causes competition in the market, and competition leads to new improvements and further developments.

The cars did change the way we look at the world and explore it. Cars give us the freedom of movement and independence. With all the downsides like getting stuck in a traffic jam or paying too much for the petrol, we still need cars as they give us flexibility and are our second homes. And we need to have a variety of choices that would satisfy each individual's needs and requirements.
