"If you want things to change, you have to change.
If you want things to get better, you have to get better.
Work harder on yourself than you do on your job and things will change for you."

-- Jim Rohn

It's what I told a large networking group in Baltimore last night. Heed the words of business philosopher Jim Rohn, make small changes, with consistency and you can change your life. I know, because I'm living it.

Three magic things.

#1: Read. Many people say they don't have the time, but we all have the same 168 hours in the week. It's what you do with those hours that matter. Nearly everyone could make the time to read 10 pages a day, 5 pages in the morning and 5 pages at night. Something which educates, motivates, or inspires you. Read consistently and take your mind and your thoughts to places you never knew it could go. As Jim Rohn says, "if you want to reach the higher shelves in life, stand on the books you read."

#2: Write. Don't just think it, ink it. Write down your dreams, goals and vision for your best life. What do you really want to accomplish? What is your vision? What are your dreams? What is your ideal scene? And how do all of these fit with your purpose, your Why? The key is to write it down and review it every day. Look at your ideal scene, your goals, your vision for a better future when you rise in the morning, or before you go to sleep at night. Do it every day and your conscious and subconscious mind will help design a plan to get you there, to live a fulfilling life, to do something that matters in service to others. Change you and change the world.

#3: Gratitude. The magic factor. Gratitude is the attitude that changes everything. You must be grateful for what you have and grateful for what you want to have -- as if it already happened! Think of at least three things each day for which you are grateful. On the worst day you can still come up with three things for which to give thanks. You can think about it when you rise in the morning, or before you lie down at night, but do it and change the way your mind sees the world, how you see yourself and how others see you. Gratitude is the most magnetic trait of trust transference. People love being around others who are grateful.

Three little things to change your life. And it only takes a few minutes a day. But the key is to do it every day. If you want to change keep it simple and watch the smallest steps lead to massive success.
