All You Have Been Given: It's Just About... Life

To be seen as different. To believe you are unlike anyone else you will ever meet, anyone in your life right now, or anyone you have met before. You live outside the norm, you think or act in ways that others can't understand, because they are not you. Only you are you.

But this is where you should be, after all, it's how you were born. You are different, unlike anyone. You are. You should live it. You should embrace it. You should never, ever let go of it.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. But for so many this is the cycle of life. No change, no inner reflection, never taking the opportunity to move outside the herd, or to live outside your own mind. Zero focus on personal development, on personal growth, on reaching for your potential and the fear of diving deep into the ultimate purpose of your life: to see what all you can do with all you have been given.

Understand what you have been given is different. Different than what any other person in this world, in your life has to offer. It can be scary and it can be lonely. It takes courage and it takes thick skin because those around you who refuse to look within, they will look to take control of what is tangible, the outside world. But focusing on the outside world won't work -- it will never give you what you want because it is out of your control -- you need to change the one thing over which you have complete control, your inner self and your gift.

To see what all you can do with all you have been given. But what is that? If it looks like you are taking a divergent path, living a different life, thinking a different way, then you are on your way, because you are different. You see the northern star and you are drawn to it. The same star that few can see, or ever reach because they don't realize it is so much closer than they think, it's right there, inside themselves, their true potential.

Now your job, this grand adventure of life is to get out of your own way and not settle for the way other people say you should live and think. Who made the rules of life anyway? They are no smarter or more talented than you are. They just decided this is the way things should be and you fell in line. Standing in line is taking all of the living out of your life. You must dare to be different.

How about this passage from the book I am currently reading, The Untethered Soul, by Michael A. Singer. It comes from the chapter titled "The Voice Inside Your Head":

You will come to see that the mind talks all the time because you gave it a job to do. You use it as a protection mechanism, a form of defense. Ultimately, it makes you feel more secure. As long as that's what you want, you will be forced to constantly use your mind to buffer yourself from life, instead of living it. The world is unfolding and really has very little to do with you or your thoughts. It was here long before you came and it will be here long after you leave. In the name of attempting to hold the world together, you're really just trying to hold yourself together.

True personal growth is about transcending the part of you that is okay and needs protection. This is done by constantly remembering that you are the one inside that notices the voice talking. That is the way out. The one inside who is aware that you are always talking to yourself is always silent. It is a doorway to the depths of your being. To be aware that you are watching the voice talk is to stand on the threshold of a fantastic inner journey. If used properly, the same mental voice that has been a source of worry, distraction and general neurosis can become the launching ground for true spiritual awakening."

To open your mind, your heart and your spirit to embrace being different, being you. To see what all you can do with all you have been given, this is the ultimate journey of living a life.

Until next time, thanks for taking the time.
