National Insult Hall of Fame Inducts "Yo Mama!" as Insult of the Decade

WYCKOFF, New Jersey - Sigmund Freud said, "The first human who hurled an insult instead of a stone was the founder of civilization."

Indeed, throughout history, insults have packed powerful political, social, and cultural punches for civilization.

Now, they even have their own hall of fame. "The National Insult Hall of Fame (NIHF) was created to be a center for the study, showcasing, and celebration of mankind's rich insult heritage," according to Donald Felkis, its executive director. During its recent annual awards ceremony, the insult "Yo mama!" was selected for the prestigious, top honor of Insult of the Decade.

"It was very close," admitted Felkis, "as there was a lot of competition. But 'Yo mama!' won over such strong contenders as, 'Have you considered suing your brains for non-support?', 'Everyone has the right to be ugly, but you abuse the privilege,' and 'I'd like to help you out; which way did you come in?'"
Visitors to the NIHF can see an extensive, multi-media exhibit documenting the use of "Yo mama!" in plays, movies, songs, TV shows, and in the business and sports worlds.

Included with the price of admission is a personalized, staff-delivered insult on the way in, one on the way out, and at least three during the exhibit. "If just one visitor a day leaves our exhibit feeling abused and degraded, then we'll have done our job," said Felkis with pride.
