Mudslinging and vote suppression are just part of the game. Why pick on HRC for taking a few pages from the Karl Rove playbook? It you think that trying to plant rumors that Barack Obama was a drug-dealer is a dirty trick, you must be a victim of Clinton Derangement Syndrome.
It’s generally acknowledged that these are the top three Democratic candidates. Accordingly, I took a few minutes yesterday to sort through my thoughts on the front runners.
John Edwards rode the coattails of John Kerry as far as they could carry him. As a result he went into this primary season as a very widely known commodity. And in spite of that it’s now clearly that he just has not been wildly successful at developing a buzz any place other than a certain limited subset of party regulars. Would he make a decent President? Sure, they all would. Will he get the chance to run? It just seems unlikely, and, like most folks, that doesn’t really bother me.
Billary largely disappoints. As a team, the Senator and her Mister would be a Presidential super bonanza. The current shape of things, though, seems to be Bill largely sitting on the bench, and Hillary calling the plays. There should have been a real opportunity here to do some amazingly creative campaigning, but what has materialized has, to my eyes, been pretty mundane. I mean it’s possible that even GWB has made more effective use of the Prez than his wife has to date, and I never would have believed that Little Georgie would be better than The Big Woman at anything.
So that leaves the wonder kid. Precocious, ambitious, and error prone! But I get the feel from him that he’s going to have the best Teflon covering against right wing sludge of any of the bunch. I understand that that’s not a huge endorsement, but the importance of this can’t be overlooked. I see Obama doing better than his competitors on the same stage with any of the Republicans, and that is enough to swing me into his column.
Did he snort, did he free base or did he smoke crack?
Is cocaine so affordable that teens can readily buy it?
How does anyone know he didn't sell it?
Is it really so absurd to speculate that if he was stupid enough to use it, he might have been stupid enough to sell it?
He tells me that I'm going over people's heads-- that HE knew I was being sarcastic or ironic, because he knows where I'm coming from-- but that if someone didn't know me, they would indeed think I was being serious.
Now I know exactly what he means; I had to take a hard look at this article before I got it. Um, you may be going over some people's heads here, Mark.
Do the words double standard mean anything to you???
finally I find some common ground with the guy.
Although the phrase "Clinton Derangement Syndrome" I think could be improved, but not like I have any suggestions.
In my American experience, honesty is never the best policy, at least not for politicians, military leaders, business men, bankers and children.
THAT will show their true measure.
And their sense of humor.
