Mark Foley lends a hand to a young Page (now alas gone missing...)

Within a few minutes of hearing about Mark Foley's resignation yesterday - I posted a blog entry here on HuffPo titled "Mark Foley: My Back Pages" (well... I'm a Dylan fan!) that linked to two fascinating "pages" on Mark Foley's website.

One titled "Children" - that listed his deep and penetrating interest in young people.

The other describing a veritable shower of golden opportunities for youngsters to serve under him.

I half-jokingly said about his website: "Check it out quickly before his site follows him down the garbage chute."

Little did I realize that the GOP leadership (including Speaker Dennis Hastert and House Majority Leader John Boehner) who knew about Foley's disgusting behavior for AT LEAST SIX MONTHS AND DID NOTHING ABOUT IT - would act liked 'greased Abrahamoffs' (i.e. imperiled conservatives) in pulling down some of Mark Foley's "Back Pages"

They pulled that page down rather like Mark Foley wanted to pull down the shorts of his young page!

Maf54: "Love to slip them off of you and grab the one eyed snake..."

(Incidentally - I don't have the imagination - or experience - to make up what poured out of Mark Foley. Read it for yourself. But you'll need a stiff drink first...

Go now to look for the webpage offering lucky youngsters a chance to get on Mark Foley's staff - and POOF! it's gone! Replaced by an innocuous page discussing "Current Vacancies" (The page is described as "Formerly the Office of Representative Mark Foley")

Sort of like "Formerly The Egotist Known As Prince"

By the way - perhaps Prince's transformation from Roman letters to an indecipherable and unpronounceable symbol is a good idea for disgraced and disgraceful Republicans?

Think Tom DeLay, Bob Ney, Duke Cunningham, Jack Abramoff and Mark Foley.

They could say that they are now called:

$$$^^^$$$

Or something similar. (Please feel free to make other suggestions. Let your keyboard and option key be the only limit...)

But I digress...

Fortunately I was able to save the cute photo from Mark Foley's "flytrap for new pages" website - and it is reproduced above.

But alas the original page - with all its enticing text - has disappeared! Instantly painted out of Republican history as if it was an image of Trotsky in a holiday snapshot of Stalin.

So now I am concerned.

We have learned today that Mark Foley's name will linger on the ballot for the November elections. And voters in Florida's 16th Congressional District will still have the chance to vote for Mark Foley. Albeit there will be another Republican standing right behind Foley - ready to thrust himself forward - if and when Foley gets the most votes. Which I'm sure Messrs. Diebold will do their best to help out on.

But how will the good citizens of Palm Beach and surrounding areas get to hear of Mark Foley's noble endeavors to bring employment to young Americans if that selfless webpage is missing?!

So I am imploring web-savvy HuffPo readers to find a way to recover the "cached" version of this now deleted webpage from the bowels of wherever Denny Hastert and his Republican cohorts despatched it.

The original URL (now re-routed) was: http://www.house.gov/foley/services/page.htm

(That Foley's kiddie-trap webpage URL ended in the words: "FOLEY SERVICES PAGE" is just beyond the wettest dream of the average satirist...)

If you can locate Mark Foley's "Missing Page" and restore it to a new URL where it will be safe from deletion by Ken Mehlman's personally-appointed apparatchiks (very few of whom are actually 'chicks') - then you would be doing a wonderful deed for the people of Florida and the United States.

Just post the new URL as a comment - and I will ensure that the Florida voters get to see Mark Foley's Missing Page...
