Meet The Old Dross - Same As The New Dross...
This blog was filed on January 3rd 1944. There may have been a slight delay with the post appearing due to server problems...
Dateline: January 3rd 1944
Fury continues to mount worldwide about the senseless loss of civilian life in Germany caused by England's callous bombing of German cities including Berlin, Hamburg and Dresden.
As of today many innocent German women and children have died in these utterly brutal bombing missions. And now there are ground offensives starting on mainland Europe.
The English have claimed that they are merely retaliating against the V-1 flying bombs being launched indiscriminately by Nazis at their civilian population in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Coventry and other cities. The English point out that their enemy is sworn to its utter destruction and has used the missiles and flying bombs against its civilians without any regard to English loss of life. Moreover it makes the case that their own bombing missions are specifically directed to military targets that the German army has intentionally planted in the heart of civilian populations to try and deter English counter-attacks.
These points may of course be true - but they are utterly besides the point.
Of course England has a right to exist. Of course England has a right to defend itself. But it should ensure that its responses are PROPORTIONATE.
Since many more Germans are dying than English - the English should either tone down the success and accuracy of their bombing - or allow the Germans to catch up on the death count.
To be honest - if more English women and children were dying - we wouldn't feel quite so bad about the number of Germans dying. But it's just so UNFAIR that more Germans are dying...
Perhaps some English people could arrange to kill themselves to match the number of Germans dying as a result of the English retaliation bombing? It would be so considerate - and it might help England's critics feel less miserable about the number of Nazis dying. Something that is causing them so much concern.
It would also put paid to that wretched proportionality argument.
Alternatively, perhaps the English could arrange to be less effective in their bombing? Or only bomb military targets that are nowhere near civilians - even though the vast majority of the V-1 rockets are intentionally being launched from the heart of civilian population centers.
Now the English will argue that the Germans have INTENTIONALLY positioned all their launch pads for the V-1 rockets in the middle of civilian populations to inhibit the English from bombing those launch sites. Well - tough noogies to the Brits! Sorry - but if the Germans are smarter or more skillful at cynically using their civilians as human shields than you - tough luck!
You can't have it both ways. If you truly wish to save your nation from being annihilated by Nazi missiles you'd better stop looking to win a popularity contest. The Nazis are waging this war to win and to utterly destroy England. If all you Brits care about is popularity - then you may as well resign yourself to speaking German...
It's about time that little nations who wish to defend themselves wised up to their responsibilities.
Otherwise the same stupid complaints will be made at some point in the 21st Century when some little nation finds itself under constant attack from rockets fired at its civilian population by a terrorizing enemy that has sworn to destroy it....
Cliffs Notes To Assist the Hard-Of-Thinking
"Nature is cruel; therefore we are also entitled to be cruel. When I send the flower of German youth into the steel hail of the next war without feeling the slightest regret over the precious German blood that is being spilled, should I not also have the right to eliminate millions of an inferior race that multiplies like vermin?" - Adolf Hitler - circa 1938
"We have suffered so much that it only steels us to fanatical resolve to hate our enemies a thousand times more and to regard them for what they are destroyers of an eternal culture and annihilators of humanity. Out of this bate a holy will is born to oppose these destroyers of our existence with all the strength that God has given us and to crush them in the end." - Adolf Hitler - 24 February 1945
"I will carry on the fight until the last traces of the Jewish-Communist European hegemony have been obliterated." Adolf Hitler - 28th November 1941 to Mohammad Amin al-Husayni (The Grand Mufti) - seen in the photo at the top of this page saluting his SS buddies in 1941. Oh the ties that bind...
"We will not rest until we destroy the Zionist entity" - Hamas leader Fathi Hammad in Gaza - January 2nd 2009
"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him." - Article 7 of the Hamas Covenant
"F**k 'em" - Martin Lewis - January 2009

The Grand Mufti/Nazi connection is recorded history. This is the Hamas legacy.
No nation should be asked to accept war without retaliation. The U.S. and allies waited too long to stop Hitler as it was, but no sane person today questions the outcome of WWII and it was the deadliest war ever with some 70M killed. Israel has accepted over 4000 rockets and 4000 mortal shells fired by Hamas over the last 7 years. Should they wait until Hamas is so well armed that it's too late? The U.S. would never endure 7 years of bombing! That's what this means.
It is incredibly unfortunate that civilians are killed, but as Israel sets out to destroy their ammunitions and leaders, the Arabs specifically target Israel's civilian population. This is NOT responding "cruelty with cruelty". I think that Hitler quote was extremely misplaced. This is about putting a big enough dent into Hamas that they cannot regroup.
Since Israel's complete withdrawal from Gaza, the Palestinians decided to purchase artillery, hiding it among civilians, under apartment bulidings, schools and mosques, instead of building up an infrastructure. They sit on the most prized piece of property in the world, the Mediterranean. They could have a thriving tourist industry and a real economy, but no, instead, they focus on eliminating Israel. And the world doesn't see this.
The picture fits perfect. My mom and I were just making this analogy.
The Grand Mufti, Haj Muhammed Amin al-Husseini:
http://www.palestinefacts.org/pf_mandate_grand_mufti.php.
al-Husseini instigated the 1929 Arab riots in Hebron by falsely accusing Jews of defiling and endangering local mosques. He called to the Arabs to slaughter the Jews and after they did, the Mufti disseminated photographs of the dead bodies claiming they were Arabs killed by Jews.
From info at the Nuremberg and Eichmann trials, the SS helped finance al-Husseini in the 1936-39 revolt in Palestine. Eichmann even visited Palestine and met with al-Husseini then and subsequently kept regular contact with him later in Berlin.
While in Baghdad, Syria al-Husseini aided the pro-Nazi revolt of 1941. He spent the rest of WWII as Hitler's special guest in Berlin, advocating the extermination of Jews in radio broadcasts back to the Middle East and recruiting Balkan Muslims for infamous SS "mountain divisions" that tried to wipe out Jewish communities throughout the region.
When Germany collapsed in 1945, the Mufti moved to Egypt where he was received as a national hero. After the war he was indicted by Yugoslavia for war crimes, but escaped prosecution. He was never tried because the Allies were afraid of the storm in the Arab world if the hero of Arab nationalism was treated as a war criminal.
Your piece is spot on. I'm sorry others don't get it.
Thank you for writing this.
Brilliant and may i suggest a follow up on the BBC.
lord haw haw is appointed as director general and the British public are bombarded with the superiority of german Nazi ideology and how all its culure and scientific discoveries are in fact derived or stolen from the tuetonic knights who have been maligned by previous british historians and academics.
The superiority of wotan and other tuetonic gods over our own judeo chistian religions could also be emroidered upon.

Hamas is a terrorist militia populated by fanatic murdering thugs who hide behind their women and children to launch attacks on the Jooooos and who are financed by the terrorist regime in Tehran. This parody is an excellent portrayal of how patheticically ignorant the defenders of Hamas sound, especially those in Great Britain, who really ought to know better. Someone pray tell me, what is it in Gaza that the Israelis want? The plethora of natural resources? The wonderful infrastucture? The fabulous factories built over the last several years? Hamas has built nothing of any value over the past few years despite being completely in charge. If Hamas wanted to actually create instead of destroy, I am virtually certain that Israel would say God bless and good luck. But no, they have to teach their kids the joys of suicide bombings and holy war. Well, maybe we don't have Curtis LeMay anymore but Hamas should be glad they don't live next door to the US of A. I dare say their crap would stop real fast if they did.
Mr. Lewis' responses to the commentary, and their subsequent disappearance would make for another interesting satire.

Brilliant and refreshing satire.
The ludicrous "disproportionate" argument leaves the same bad taste in my mouth and the lack of alternatives seems lost on pinheads like Annie Lennox.
It's cute to quantify ones "fairness" by saying "Israel has the right to defend itself", but if that is followed by the dumb "proportionate" argument, you are effectively saying that Israel has no right to defend itself.
Besides, the score (if you are morbid enough to keep it) would be much more even if Israelis didn't spend all day & night hiding in bomb shelters....or indeed if the Palestinians set aside some of their enormous rocket budget to build bomb shelters instead of just adorning launch sites with civilians.
And no, of course the Nazi analogy isn't a totally fit. It's an analogy!. You have to look for the point. Israel is a tiny country surrounded by deadly enemies. All it has to do is survive. Pandering to the ignorant judgement of Euromerican radical wannabes isn't top of their priority list.
They should add an extra verse to the Hatikva: "La-la-la we don't hear you. Ner-ner-ner, we don't care". A sentiment that Israel's fiercest critics would surely echo if a bunch of Eskimos told them not to defend themselves against would-be killers.
Israel must defend itself. The Palestinian death toll is Hamas's responsibility. Hamas could end this war right now by stopping their clumsy attempts at murdering Israeli civilians. They haven't, so it goes on. Case closed.
Brilliant response.
I can't help thinking you're getting things a little out of proportion....

Death toll in ENTIRE of Israel from ALL Hamas Rockets since Sept 2005: (9)

Sorry but the response to kill hundreds of civilians in the first few strikes alone is entirely disproportionate
PS: The bombing of Germany including civilian areas was not just in response to V2 rocket attacks but also in response to the Nazi's own carpet bombing of similar targets in Britain, neither side had realistic access to more accurate forms of aerial attack, and in many quarters both sides actions are considered war crimes by today's standards
In other news Archchancellor Adolf Hitler today outlined his governments "entirely proportionate" response to the Jewish problem after renewed violent resistance to so-called "Ghettos" from Jewish quarters. He further went on to deny that the decision to force Jews into small areas, remove their ability to travel and restrict the flow of goods into these areas in any way contravened their human rights
"Violence does not end violence. Oppression does not bring about peace. Discrimination and segregation do not create civility. "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth", only leads to toothless blind people. Peace only comes at the end of a handshake undertaken with a weaponless hand.
Peace be on Earth."
In a perfect world maybe, but in the actual world we presently live in, that's nothing more than a fantasy. What's completely ignorant is the thought that Hamas or any organization like them actually desires peace or would ever accept any truce.
Excellent post Martin. It must terrify those who support Hamas and the Palestinians to see that with minor name substitutions, you can bring out the similarities in positions between the nazi actors 70 years ago and palestinians today. It sucks to see that the side you believe you support has been engaging in the sort of genocidal hatred and indiscriminate mass murder for years, and you having been none the wiser. More telling are the kneejerk frightened reactions of the people whose eyes you have forced open, albeit temporarily.
Myths and beliefs are comfortable, even when they are wrong, and outright dangerous.
Maybe you will have shocked some of these people into a deep realization of what it is they support. Some will come around. Many will refuse to accept it and deny reality. There is no hope for this latter group, let them fester in their fever swamps. For the people deeply shocked by the parallelism of the imagery, welcome into the light. It is worse than Martin made it out to be. Far worse. The more people who understand just how bad it is, and how the moral inversion has been working all these years, the better.
It should terrify all of us that it works equally well for both the Israelis and the Palestinians.
Actually it doesn't work with the Israelis as the nazis. It does with the Israelis as the British. Wonder why that is.
But not all Palestinians are Hamas enthusiasts. There's truth in that, isn't there? That's like saying that I as an American, was in lockstep with George Bush's political stance. I wasn't. I just happen to be an American who lived under his administration. I didn't vote for him. I wasn't consulted. But when foreigners say that America is bad, they include me. And they're wrong.
And not all the Germans were Nazis either. But when your duly elected government declares war on a neighboring state (or created acts of aggression), nonetheless you are at war.
"Of course the people don't want war. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country that determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them that they are being attacked, and denounce the pacificists for lack of patriotism and exposing their country to danger. It works the same in any country."
Hermann Goering, at the Nuremberg trials, 1946
Thank you!
Another Mufti Myther. Cute. Baruch Kimmerling has written about the use of the mufti in attempts by Zionists like Mr Lewis to Nazify the Palestinians through a game of guilt by association and thus justify their repression by Israel.
"Since then, however, "the mufti" has become one of the major assets of
pro-Israel propaganda. The argument was and is as follows: The Arabs
do not accept the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine,
therefore they are anti-Semites who want to annihilate all the Jews and
to accomplish the Nazi program‹the best example being the mufti's
alliance with Nazi Germany. This social construction of reality
ignores not only the complexity and the fundamentally different basis
of the Israeli-Arab conflict but also some inconvenient historical
facts. One such fact is that while assisting the Nazis, the mufti lost
almost all his influence over the Palestinian Arabs, which he never
regained. Another is that during the 1930s and '40s Palestine was the
only country in the region (and perhaps in the whole world) where no
Nazi party or organization was established. During the 1930s, some
Arab, as well as some Jewish, leaders expressed admiration for fascist
regimes, but this was before the racist bases of these regimes became
clear."

Mufti Myther?
Lets have a look at Professor Kimmerling
Kimmerling was a leading figure in the "post-Zionist" movement, an anti-Zionist campaign whose luminaries also include Ilan Pappe, Avi Shlaim, Oren Yiftachel, Uri Bar-Joseph, and Benny Morris.
Two books by Kimmerling were published in 2003. They were widely reviewed, especially by magazines and websites hostile to Israel, and were produced in Arabic in the West Bank.
One of these books, The Palestinian People (co-authored with Joel Migdal) was lauded by the Palestine Liberation Organization. In this publication, Kimmerling and Migdal contended that Palestinian nationhood dates back into the distant mists of history, their purported proof being the fact that there were Arabic-speaking people living in what was once called Palestine ever since the Muslim empire arose, and that there were Arabic tribes there even earlier, some mentioned in the Bible.
As further evidence, Kimmerling and Migdal cited the fact that: (a) by the 1800s some Arabs in Palestine were participating in various rebellions within the Islamic world; and (b) when the local Turkish pasha revolted against the suzerainty of the Egyptian overlord Mohammed Ali, he was backed by some local sheikhs and effendis in Palestine.
Kimmerling and Migdal declared that local Arabs had developed a Palestinian self-definition by 1908. But their citation for this finding was an old book which actually emphasized that Palestine had been regarded by Arabs in the early 20th century as Southern Syria. The authors did not mention that.
And this has what to do with Mr Lewis's wild insinuation that the Palestinians were complicit in and are actively carrying out Hitler's plan to exterminate the Jews?
the correct analogy, mr lewis, would be to express outrage that the residents of the Warsaw ghetto would seek to kill any of their lawful overlords.
Oh, yes, and Great Britain out of the Poland NOW!
Humans win. We're so insightful and funny.
The analogy doesn't fly, sorry.
