Admit it, how fun is it to come up with wrestling euphemisms especially when put into context of what has happened in politics in CT after Senator Chris Dodd's announcement that he would retire? Slammed down, wrestled, free fall, body check, choke hold, pinned, in the ropes, down for the count, theatrics, gratuitous entertainment, down in the polls?

Quinnipiac University Polling Institute http://www.quinnipiac.edu/x271.xml announced Blumenthal Body Slams Republicans in Connecticut: "Attorney General Richard Blumenthal's job approval is unbelievably high, higher than any other politician we've ever measured, other than former President George W. Bush after 9/11," said Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz, PhD.

"Rob Simmons (Former US Congressman) must be wondering what happened. In September, prior to (WWE's President Linda) McMahon's entry, he was the clear frontrunner for the nomination. He was at 43 percent and no other Republican was in double digits. He also was ahead of Dodd. Now, Simmons is in a real Republican primary race with Linda McMahon and gets destroyed by Blumenthal."

Linda McMahon, www.Linda2010.com whose claim to fame is WWE's president and 30 years of "business" experience was bolstered earlier in 2009 by her appointment by the Republican Governor M. Jodi Rell to the CT Board of Education, www.huffingtonpost.com/mary-ann-west/smack-down-on-education-w_b_163581.html not that an education background apparently was required. Six months and a few meetings later, suggest she may have the sufficient leverage to become CT's junior senator. That was, until Dodd announced and successively Blumenthal jumped into the ring.

Her position against fellow republican rivals has now slumped in the newest Q- Poll that pit all of the probable players for the Senate seat being vacated by Christopher Dodd's announcement www.huffingtonpost.com/mary-ann-west/dodds-retirement-a-game-c_b_413660.html on January 6th that he would be retiring. As prepared as the campaigns may have thought they were, that fickle finger of fate hit back.

Polls www.huffingtonpost.com/mary-ann-west/my-visit-to-political-pol_b_128716.html are an interesting thing, what we hear are the final results of a survey process, but keep in mind that this is just a survey of those who are willing to answer a phone call during the evening and subject themselves to 5 minutes of choices. The silence of the 17-24% and growing population of cell users skews the results, mostly the young and mobile that do not own a land line, as much as pollsters are lauded for their foresight, there shouldn't be a surprise when the end result is different then what the experts expected.

While there are still snow storms in the forecast and lots of shoveling in our future, the 2010 races are heating up!
